- Chapter 21 - The Executioner
Upon hearing this, Si Nian quickly furrowed his brows, while the ‘kind-hearted man who paid the bill’ Mo Yuting spoke up first, “No need, I won’t have any interactions with her in the future.”
Even if there were the slightest interaction, it wouldn’t be initiated by him.
“Oh…” Si Nian gave Mo Yuting, who liked to set flags, a knowing look. He then enthusiastically chatted with Lin Yuan who had just returned to City A.
After talking until his throat was dry and eating some fruit, Si Nian suddenly remembered what the manager had told him. “They seem to be going to the zoo later!”
The zoo? What does that have to do with me?
Mo Yuting remained silent, still resembling an icy statue. But Lin Yuan, whose scheming was only slightly second to Mo Yuting, noticed that Mo Yuting seemed lost in thought.
Once the so-called welcome banquet, which was really just a casual lunch, came to an end, the sharp-eyed Si Nian spotted the pair of cute twins.
“Where is their mom? Why are the children alone?” Si Nian observed the two children quietly sitting on a sofa with no adults around them. His eyes were filled with confusion.
“That’s a children’s clothing store. Their mom must be picking out something.”
“Yeah, that makes sense.” Si Nian nodded at Lin Yuan, then pretended to be serious as he said to Mo Yuting, “I think I should go watch over them. After all, there are so many human traffickers around. Why don’t you head back to the Mo family first?”
“Xiao Nian, don’t stir up trouble.” Lin Yuan gently patted Si Nian’s head and led the two curious men into the children’s clothing store.
Once inside, Si Nian immediately began searching for Ruan Meng. When he couldn’t find her, he approached the twins directly. “Little ones, why are you two all alone? Where’s your mommy?”
“Huh? Uncle Si, what a coincidence!” Ruan An An greeted him warmly because he and Si Nian had used the bathroom together.
“Cough, cough. It is quite a coincidence.” Feeling a bit guilty for some reason, Si Nian smiled awkwardly, only to be immediately called out by Ruan Le Le, “Uncle Si, your smile is weird. That woman said it’s called having ulterior motives!”
“!” Si Nian jumped to his feet. He felt somewhat guilty but quickly corrected himself, “No, no! I was just worried you two were sitting here alone and might get taken by bad people!”
“Alright, Xiao Nian.” Sensing the tension, Lin Yuan noticed the store staff eyeing them suspiciously and quickly pulled him back.
Just as he was about to question the children, Mo Yuting, who had been silent, sat down beside the twins.
Ruan Le Le was stunned to see Mo Yuting appear suddenly but refused to acknowledge him. But Ruan An An softly called out, “Daddy.”
Mo Yuting paused his movements. He was surprised by the stark contrast in treatment he received. Seeing this whole scene, Si Nian struggled to suppress his laughter.
Lin Yuan was confused about what had just happened and intrigued by Ruan An An’s call of ‘Daddy’. He asked, “Where’s your mom? Why did she leave you alone here?”
The timid Ruan An An looked up when he heard the voice. He was startled by Lin Yuan’s scary appearance, while Ruan Le Le quickly shielded her brother behind her.
Although their actions seemed normal to Mo Yuting and Lin Yuan, Ruan Meng, who had just stepped out of the fitting room, furrowed her brow deeply. “Da Bao, Xiao Bao, mind your manners.”
“Mommy.” Ruan An An and Ruan Le Le were startled by her reprimand. They quickly apologized to Lin Yuan, “Sorry, Uncle!”
“It’s fine.” Lin Yuan waved his hand indifferently.
He had always been referred to as “Mo Yuting’s executioner” by some people behind his back.
With a noticeable scar at the corner of his eye, it was no wonder the children were scared.
