- Chapter 7 - Pretty Little Dog
The next morning, He Shu woke to a blaring alarm that shook the entire room.
For a moment, she thought the house was on fire. She shot upright, reaching instinctively for Qianqian to escape.
Her hand grasped nothing but air. At the same time, the deafening siren in her head cut off abruptly and was replaced by a cheerful electronic voice.
“Ding ding ding. A brand-new day has begun. Host, are you ready? Scene Two of the Xishan Villa storyline is about to start.”
Xishan Villa?
Holding her head, He Shu took a full minute to finally reboot and recall everything that had happened.
She had transmigrated into a novel. She had become a pervert. And now, she had to go to work.
With a snap, she flipped on the light and saw the time glowing on the bedside clock. Already irritated from being startled awake, her mood now plummeted further.
“You brain-dead system! Look at the time! It’s five o’clock! Do you have any humanity left? Even the most miserable workhorse doesn’t start at five! What kind of scene starts at five? Are we reincarnating early or what?!”
He Shu flopped back into bed, yanked the blanket over her head, and prepared to go back to sleep.
“Host, are you ready? The scene has been issued. Please proceed to the designated location.”
He Shu ignored it, but the scenario hovering in her mind was impossible to block out.
“Dog walking?!”
She leapt up again in disbelief. This was it. She was doomed.
She had already sensed things would go south the moment she heard “Dog Room” yesterday. But she never imagined that by the second day, they would jump straight into this.
And it was happening now!
Was there no gradual buildup? No small leather whip warm-up? At the very least, couldn’t they have started with something like those little tails? They were fluffy and cute…
No! Wait! Knowing where those tails were supposed to go, her face flushed deep red. That was not an option!
This had to be the end. This wretched plot was forcing her to take Cen Qianyi outside like a dog. Of course, the woman would resist. Then He Shu would hit her… The script described her beating Cen Qianyi black and blue before dragging her out by force.
Right in front of the villa, the staff too. Cen Qianyi was supposed to crawl out the door like a dog.
And crawl up a mountain path to watch the sunrise…
Dear heavens, help!
Was this something a human being could actually do?!
If anyone happened to walk by and record that scene, it would go viral as a public scandal.
No wonder Cen Qianyi later tormented the original host so cruelly. She had done this kind of thing to her.
He Shu lay back down. She couldn’t do it.
“Just send me to reincarnate already!”
“Refusing a mission will result in character erasure. Everything will start over.”
The system seemed fully recharged now, its voice much louder than before.
“Even if restarted, the plot will still have to be completed.”
Furious, He Shu sat up like a spring-loaded fish and wanted to beat this idiotic system to death. She finally understood what it meant. Even if she died, she would be revived just to face this absurd storyline again.
Resigned, He Shu got up. As she washed her face, she looked at her reflection in the mirror. She looked even more like a pervert now, and the sight almost brought her to tears.
Before the tears could fall, she noticed a few scratches on her neck. Her hands also had a bit of dried blood.
What?
Did she scratch herself in her sleep?
While changing clothes, she also saw a red patch on her chest, like something had pressed against her there.
She remembered her dream from the night before. She had dreamed of Qianqian, dreamed that the dog had come to sleep on her. Given the mark on her chest, it wasn’t far off from the way Qianqian used to lie on her.
The dream had felt so real… But there was no time to dwell on it. The system’s alarm sounded again.
She quickly changed into a loose tracksuit and rushed to the “tools room” to pick up the props. She had to admit, this deranged setup was disgustingly well-designed.
He Shu went straight to the cabinet where she had seen the collars yesterday.
There was no time to be picky. Her eyes immediately locked onto one collar that wasn’t properly placed on its holder like the others. She grabbed it without a second thought.
Just as the countdown reached zero, He Shu opened the door to the “Pet Room.”
In her mind, the system’s chipper voice rang out.
“Host has reached the designated scene. The story begins now. Good luck, Host!”
Good luck, my foot. Who needs good luck to play a pervert?
He Shu took a deep breath and turned on the light. The warm orange glow quickly illuminated every corner of the room, revealing the figure curled up on the large mat in the center.
Cen Qianyi had bundled herself up tightly. She looked even smaller than yesterday.
She wore only a thin camisole nightgown. Just thinking about taking her up a mountain in that made He Shu shiver on her behalf.
She considered giving the woman her jacket. Then she saw the white lab coat she had given her yesterday.
It was inside the dog cage.
What did that mean? He Shu couldn’t help but overanalyze. She had given Cen Qianyi that coat, and it ended up in a dog cage. Did that mean Cen Qianyi really wanted to lock her up instead?
Creepy. Just imagining herself inside that cage made her want to scream.
As He Shu spiraled in her thoughts, Cen Qianyi opened her eyes. Once they adjusted to the light, her gaze landed on He Shu.
He Shu froze. She felt like prey under a predator’s gaze. But soon the woman shifted her eyes off to the side, as though she couldn’t see and was listening carefully instead.
He Shu exhaled. She was suddenly glad the woman was blind. If she weren’t, He Shu really didn’t know how she would manage to act through what was coming next.
The countdown resumed in her mind. With no way out, He Shu had to force herself to say her lines.
“Baby, you’re awake?”
As soon as she spoke, the woman adjusted her gaze and looked directly at He Shu.
Their eyes met. Those pale violet eyes made He Shu tremble.
Though the trembling wasn’t as intense as yesterday. She was surprised. How had one night made her so much braver?
Then she realized.
The killing intent was gone.
“System, get out here. What happened? Where’s the killing intent? Where are the scary air blades? Did the Killing Intent Sensor Card expire?”
“It is a three-day trial. Two days remain.”
“Then what happened? Is it broken? Why isn’t it working?”
“No killing intent has been detected.”
The system’s electronic voice almost sounded relieved.
He Shu stared at the woman in the center of the room, confused. How had one night changed everything? Why didn’t she want to kill her anymore?
Cen Qianyi watched the woman standing at the door, glancing briefly at the sky outside. Why was she up so early?
She remained silent, waiting for what would come next.
He Shu wasn’t surprised by the silence. That was how the script was written. Even without sensing any killing intent, what she was about to do was horrifying enough that she could not relax.
With stiff legs, He Shu walked forward and crouched in front of Cen Qianyi. When she met those violet eyes again, she instinctively shuffled back two steps.
Taking a deep breath, she reached out and quickly brushed her fingers across the woman’s face.
“What’s wrong, baby? Still sleepy?”
She glanced down at the script prompt, which now instructed her to pinch the woman’s face.
Thinking for a moment, He Shu gently grasped Cen Qianyi’s chin with her thumb and forefinger, treating her like fragile crystal.
“Did you miss me last night?”
Cen Qianyi blinked at her.
For a brief second, He Shu was charmed. Those eyes were too beautiful. When widened in confusion like that, she almost looked like Qianqian.
He Shu had to look away to keep reading her next line.
“Have you figured out how to behave like a toy yet?”
Done with her part, she waited silently for the response. It was Cen Qianyi’s turn.
After two seconds, she spoke, repeating the line from the script.
“What do you want to do?”
He Shu wanted to shout that she didn’t want to do anything. The system was forcing her!
She let go of her fingers and, following the prompt, ran her hand along the woman’s neck, replying off-script.
“So beautiful. Baby, has anyone ever told you your neck is beautiful?”
Cen Qianyi slowly raised a hand and covered the spot where she had been touched. Her gaze shifted toward the object in He Shu’s hand.
The collar.
It was the same one she had chosen the night before.
He Shu followed her line of sight and looked at the collar too. Since there was no dialogue now, she continued with her lines.
“Such a beautiful neck is missing something.”
She shook the collar slightly. The chain made a crisp metallic sound.
Cen Qianyi’s brow twitched as she repeated her question.
“What do you want to do?”
He Shu wanted to cry.
The thought of what she was about to do brought tears to her eyes. It was like mourning her own loss of humanity. From this point on, she would officially become a pervert.
And not even the kind with excuses. A full-fledged, undeniable pervert.
She took a deep breath, sniffled, and looked at Cen Qianyi’s confused expression. At least the woman couldn’t see her tears.
She wiped her face and reminded herself this was all acting. None of it was real.
Choking back tears, she continued.
“The morning air on Xishan is especially refreshing. I’m taking you out to get some fresh air.”
“Have you ever seen a sunrise? The sunrise over Xishan is breathtaking.”
“Oh, I almost forgot. You can’t see. That’s okay, baby. I can see. I’ll see it for you.”
She gently brushed her fingers across the woman’s eyes and felt her eyelashes flutter against her palm.
Cen Qianyi rarely felt so bewildered. Watching a sunrise? Was this woman seriously waking her up to watch a sunrise?
She found it hard to connect this strange behavior with the person in front of her.
He Shu also couldn’t understand it. What kind of full-blown pervert would blind someone and then take them to watch the sunrise?
She wiped away the tears again. Why did she have to become such a pervert? After today, even if Cen Qianyi killed her, she might actually deserve it…
The countdown began again.
He Shu whimpered, eyes red as she unclasped the collar and helped the woman sit up. Her trembling fingers fastened the collar around that beautiful neck.
“Baby, with this on, you won’t get lost.”
Following the script, she lowered her head and bit gently on the pronounced collarbone.
Cen Qianyi hadn’t expected it. Her shoulders twitched. The sensory enhancer was becoming stronger over time, and the bite brought both pain and a strange numbness.
Memories from the previous night surged forward. Her eyes flickered with shame and frustration.
The cold leather against her neck and the heat of He Shu’s hand created a contrast that made her tremble.
He Shu was also shaking. Her hands trembled so much she couldn’t even fasten the clasp properly.
She leaned in closer. When she noticed Cen Qianyi’s reddened ears, she sensed something odd.
Back in the hospital, she remembered seeing a red dot on Cen Qianyi’s ear, like a mole with a pattern. But now it was gone. Instead, there was a tiny hole.
She pinched the ear and checked the back. It hadn’t gone through, so it wasn’t a piercing.
Strange.
Cen Qianyi felt a constant warmth at her ear. The steady stream of hot breath made her scalp tingle.
He Shu guessed she must have seen wrong at the hospital. With the system rushing her, she had no time to linger. She steadied her hand and finally fastened the collar.
She stepped back. The collar was a little loose, but at least it wasn’t choking her. She comforted herself by thinking this was a small mercy in an otherwise disturbing act.
Cen Qianyi watched the woman pull away. Her limbs still trembled. Her body was too weak to support itself, and her eyes filled with disbelief as tears streamed from He Shu’s face like a running faucet.
What was this woman crying about all the time…
He Shu wiped her tears, grabbed the iron chain attached to the collar, and took a deep breath. It was time to start acting like a pervert.
Tears fell harder. Her vision blurred, and she fumbled. The tail end of the chain brushed against her chest several times before sliding down her torso.
The metal was icy cold, crawling down her skin like a snake. Cen Qianyi shuddered as the sensation heightened. Her fingers clenched the mat beneath her, nails sinking into the soft fabric.
He Shu didn’t notice. She was too busy making one last desperate plea.
“System, do I really have to do this? Are you sure you’re not just a broken program? If I follow through with this plot, I’ll never be able to win her over. She’ll definitely kill me!”
“Refusing the plot—”
“Don’t even start. With a storyline like this, what’s left to save? Might as well let the world burn.”
“Good luck!”
Stupid system!
He Shu thought her only chance now was for Cen Qianyi to deviate from the plot herself.
But wait… Even if Cen Qianyi agreed to crawl, He Shu wouldn’t have to hit her, but they would still have to go outside.
The worst part was not the hitting, which she could still manage.
The worst part was making Cen Qianyi crawl out the door. And past the front gate.
According to the script, the villa staff would greet her at the door, saying, “Good morning, President He.”
She imagined the scene. Holding the leash, being greeted politely while the “dog” crawled beside her.
He Shu wanted to sob. It was so sick…
There was no way out. She was destined to become a pervert today. A truly awful pervert.
Her tears flowed uncontrollably. She pulled the chain off Cen Qianyi’s chest, unaware of the woman’s flushed face. At the same time, she pressed her down by the back, forcing her into a kneeling crawl position.
Forget it. If she had to die, let it be quick.
She pinched a lock of her snowy-white hair and tickled her reddened earlobe with the tip.
“Pretty little dog. Can you crawl?”
Storyteller Kliraz's Words
I just found out someone is already translating this. When I started the raws, I checked NU, and there was none. I only saw it today, after posting the first 15 chapters. This isn't sniping, just bad timing ✌️.
