- Chapter 4 - The Special Room
He Shu bolted.
She ran so fast that she accidentally did the splits while opening the door.
Outside the hospital room, Su Zhi was startled by the sudden slam of the door and the figure who shot out like a bullet. The bodyguards stationed on either side were even quicker to react, immediately pulling out their electric batons.
“Boss, what happened?”
He Shu had no time to respond. She lowered her head and sprinted, the sensation of a blade made of killing intent hanging cold and sharp at the back of her neck.
Her neck felt icy. It was as if her head could be separated from her body at any second.
“System, what is going on?! I thought she was injected with some kind of muscle paralysis. Did it wear off already?”
The electronic voice in her head crackled like a loose wire, the tone flickering up and down.
“The original novel said the drug paralyzes muscles for three days… so it shouldn’t have worn off…”
Somehow, even in that mechanical tone, He Shu picked up a trace of fear. The system sounded terrified!
She kept running and shouted, “If it hasn’t worn off, then why are we running? She can’t even move her muscles. How can she kill me?”
“That’s Cen Qianyi. Anything is possible with her!”
The system had already followed He Shu to her death ninety-eight times, and every one of those deaths had come out of nowhere!
He Shu did not respond.
It wasn’t her imagination. This system really was more scared than she was.
“You’re hiding something from me, aren’t you? You sound like you know Cen Qianyi really well.”
She didn’t get a reply from the system. Instead, what she heard was the sound of footsteps behind her.
He Shu looked back. The bodyguards at the door had split into two groups. One was chasing after her while the other stayed at the room’s entrance.
Back in the room, Su Zhi had not followed He Shu right away. Instead, she turned and walked into the ward.
The woman on the bed lay there quietly with her eyes closed, as if asleep. Su Zhi glanced at the metal cuffs still securely in place around her wrists and ruled out any incident inside the room as the cause for her boss’s sudden escape.
She exited and shut the door behind her. Looking down the hallway, she spotted He Shu standing at the far end, staring right back at her.
Her boss was acting very strange today.
Su Zhi was full of confusion as she jogged over.
As the footsteps faded away, the person on the bed opened her eyes again. There was a hint of confusion in her dazed gaze.
Why did that woman suddenly run? She looked like the room was going to explode in the next second.
While pondering, her vision began to blur again. Cen Qianyi knew the drug from the Lan Ye No.1 series was starting to take effect.
Her eyes were icy cold.
Cen Qianyi quickly slipped out of the handcuffs and reached behind her left ear. With a fingernail that had been sharpened, she made a swift cut behind her ear.
If He Shu were present, she would have been shocked to see that the villain’s wound did not bleed.
That was because the outer layer was fake skin.
Cen Qianyi yanked it off. There were still some wet traces on it, which she threw away in disgust.
She touched her earlobe again and found a small bump. Carefully, she pulled out a tiny needle from her ear.
If He Shu had seen this, she would have realized that what she once assumed was a mole or maybe a tattoo on Cen Qianyi’s earlobe was actually the hidden tip of a needle.
The needle was barely two millimeters long.
Just before her vision fully blurred, Cen Qianyi stabbed the needle into her neck.
The Bounty Alliance had developed this [Micro Detox Needle] to eliminate all common toxins.
The blinding toxin from the Lan Ye No.1 was no exception.
A burning sensation spread across her neck. Cen Qianyi noticed something strange. The Lan Ye No.1 formula wasn’t pure. The toxicity was weaker than expected, and one dose wouldn’t be enough to blind permanently.
Something else had been mixed into the drug.
Cen Qianyi, whose body had been subjected to countless experimental drugs since childhood, quickly identified it.
It was a [Sensory Enhancer].
This was a drug that amplified physical sensations.
Pain became more painful. In other words, pleasure was also doubled.
Cen Qianyi recalled what that doctor had said earlier to the woman, “Added something extra, should make it more fun.”
Her lavender eyes darkened.
Just like the muscle paralysis agent, this enhancer wasn’t something the micro detox needle could eliminate.
It was a bit troublesome, but not a big deal.
If they want to play with her, they better be ready to lose their lives.
Cen Qianyi gently ran her finger across her sharpened nail. A thin line of blood instantly welled up.
She looked at the red bead of blood and smiled silently.
This time, she was going to gouge out an eye for fun.
With the detox taking effect and her life no longer in immediate danger, Cen Qianyi decided not to resist the drug any longer. She allowed herself to fall into a deep sleep.
She would deal with everything once she woke up.
Meanwhile, He Shu was surprised to find that the sensation of killing intent that had been chasing her suddenly disappeared.
“What happened? Did Cen Qianyi decide not to kill me after all?”
The system, which had been pretending to be dead, suddenly responded.
But it didn’t answer her question.
“Friendly reminder: Before the next plot begins, the host must arrive at the corresponding scene. Failure to do so is equivalent to rejecting the plot.”
He Shu was now completely sure the system was hiding a lot from her.
Unfortunately, she had no way of forcing it to tell the truth.
The rapid pace of the storyline gave her no time to rest.
“Where’s the next scene?”
As soon as she asked, a sign popped up in her mind with four big words:
“Xishan Villa.”
“What kind of name is that? Sounds unlucky. Sunset on the western hill? Am I going to die there or what?”
“Host, good luck.”
He Shu had no intention of being lucky. She just wanted to run away. But at that moment, Su Zhi reached her.
“Boss, what happened?”
He Shu obviously couldn’t say she was running for her life, so she made something up.
“Leg cramp. I was trying to run it off.”
Su Zhi blinked. “You can run that fast with a cramp? Boss, you’re amazing.”
He Shu: …
Even the side characters in this psycho CEO’s world are something else.
Su Zhi stayed composed. “Boss, are we heading back to Xishan Villa now?”
He Shu pressed a hand against the ache in her chest. This woman had no idea she was sending her boss straight to her death.
“Yes.”
She gritted her teeth. There was no other choice.
Thankfully, she was not riding in the same car as Cen Qianyi. After a final checkup, Cen Qianyi would be transported in a specialized hospital vehicle.
On the road, He Shu asked the system for the original novel and pretended to nap in the car. In reality, she was flipping through the book, searching for any chance at survival.
…
One and a half hours later, Xishan Villa.
Just before getting out of the car, He Shu happened to read the original novel’s description of the place.
“Xishan Villa was located in the western suburbs. The entire mountain belonged to He Shu. After finding her favorite plaything, this villa became her favorite spot. To her, the mountain’s beautiful scenery and solitude made it the perfect place to walk her dog.”
He Shu stepped out of the car and looked around.
This was not just a great place to walk a dog. It was a great place to walk her.
A breeze swept through the trees. Sunlight flickered between the leaves like stars. The warm, green scenery was so beautiful that He Shu couldn’t move her feet.
After graduation, life had been all about survival. She came home under city lights every night. On weekends, all she wanted to do was lie in bed. She couldn’t even remember the last time she saw such a view.
Life flew by in a blur. Her world had been confined to a tiny cubicle, a meter by a meter, where she could neither see the sky nor stop herself from crying.
Her nose tingled.
Maybe getting transported into a novel wasn’t so bad. If there was time, she would take her dog hiking here.
But where was the dog?
He Shu looked around. There didn’t seem to be one. Probably kept inside. She would ask later. Personally, she preferred big silly dogs like Samoyeds, Alaskan Malamutes, or Golden Retrievers.
“Boss, is everything okay?”
Su Zhi noticed He Shu standing still after getting out of the car and came up to ask.
He Shu snapped out of it and turned her gaze to the nearby villa.
This place, with its grand and imposing design, could only be described with one word: money.
Two neat rows of people stood outside. They wore matching gray uniforms with white lace aprons around their waists. They looked exactly like maids from TV.
Everyone bowed in unison to greet her.
He Shu had just stepped onto the marble stairs when she heard the synchronized greeting.
“Good day, President He!”
Oh dear. That was too sudden. Who could handle this?
He Shu felt like each step took her higher into the clouds. Dazed and floaty, she walked into the villa that reeked of luxury.
She collapsed onto a sofa worth more than her old salary. A dazzling crystal chandelier hung above. Maids served her tea and snacks. Her heart bubbled with joy until she remembered her impending doom.
What was wrong with that CEO in the original novel? Why would anyone with a life this good want to be a psycho?
He Shu gave herself a punch.
Now she was the psycho.
She returned to the book, trying to see what kind of twisted plotline was coming next.
It seemed like she just needed to pick some clothes for Cen Qianyi. If she refused to wear them, she would be left hungry.
Didn’t seem too difficult. Besides, Cen Qianyi was temporarily blind. That lowered the danger level.
Reading about the so-called special room filled with various “tools,” He Shu decided to take a look.
The room was on the second floor. As soon as the elevator doors opened, three horizontal doors stood before her, each a different color.
Red, yellow, green.
So creepy. Who in their right mind used these colors for room doors?
Then again, that made the rooms easy to find.
He Shu went straight to the yellow door in the middle.
As soon as she opened it, she jumped in fright. The mannequins directly facing the entrance looked way too realistic. She almost thought they were dead bodies.
She had scared herself.
He Shu forced an awkward smile. Reminder to self: you’re a CEO with weird kinks, not a serial killer.
Those mannequins must be for displaying outfits.
Apparently, this twisted CEO also had a thing for cosplay.
She did not.
He Shu averted her gaze and looked around. Along the walls were glass cabinets.
There were doors to the left and right, probably leading to adjacent rooms. These three rooms must connect. What a bizarre design.
She stepped up to a cabinet and saw… well… whips. All kinds. Big ones, small ones, long, short, in every color and material imaginable.
Thinking about what they were used for made her back tense. She quickly looked away and moved on to the next cabinet.
This one was filled with furry… tails. Fox tails, rabbit tails, cat tails…
Her hips clenched instinctively. She could already guess what they were for.
Sometimes, it sucked knowing too much from the internet.
He Shu hurried past them and reached the opposite wall. This side looked a lot more normal.
She let out a breath of relief.
This cabinet was filled with jewelry. Mostly earrings. And surprisingly, they were quite beautiful.
She opened the glass door and took one out. A simple silver hoop with a small bell that jingled when shaken. Clear and sweet.
Who would’ve thought this psycho CEO had such a childish side?
He Shu smiled and was about to put it back when she noticed a small metal tag on the inside wall of the cabinet. It had gold lettering.
Judging by its shape and placement, it was a label for categorizing the contents.
She leaned closer to read it.
Nipple… ring.
She fumbled. The earring fell to the floor with a clink!
Oh no, oh no, oh no, I am going to die.
He Shu crouched down in a panic and picked it up with trembling fingers.
“System, get out here! This better not be a real part of the plot! Are we actually going to use this thing?!”
After being missing for so long, the system finally responded, now adept at sarcasm.
“Why don’t you guess.”
She held the item like it was a live grenade.
“I’d rather just die now!”
Right then, a knock came at the door.
Panicked, He Shu quickly shoved the item back into the cabinet.
“Come in!”
Su Zhi entered, keeping her eyes down and ignoring everything in the room. She walked straight to He Shu.
“Boss, the person has been delivered to the dog room.”
“Dog room?”
Su Zhi seemed confused by her reaction. She pointed to the door beside the cabinet.
“Cen Qianyi has already been placed in the dog room.”
With a loud bang, He Shu slammed her hand against the glass cabinet. Her reflection stared back at her, and she looked unmistakably like a pervert.
She finally understood what that ‘perfect place to walk the dog’ meant.
And she also understood what kind of ‘dog’ was in that room.
He Shu turned her terrified gaze to the brown door. She could almost hear the growl of a Tibetan mastiff waiting inside.
Like the moment she opened that door, it would maul her to death.
The system chimed in.
“Dog Room plot is about to begin. Host, please enter the designated scene.”
Storyteller Kliraz's Words
I just found out someone is already translating this. When I started the raws, I checked NU, and there was none. I only saw it today, after posting the first 15 chapters. This isn't sniping, just bad timing ✌️.
