- Chapter 3 - Freestyle
He Shu held her breath as soon as she finished speaking. Tears slid down her face without a sound. She couldn’t stop them even if she wanted to.
This body seemed to be the overly tearful kind, too.
Now that she thought about it, she hadn’t even looked in the mirror yet. She had no idea what she looked like in this body.
Please don’t let her look like a creep…
Through her blurred vision, she noticed a small red dot on the earlobe she had just been biting and licking. It looked like a mole, but when she tried to focus, it seemed to have a pattern.
Before she could get a good look, a hoarse voice broke the silence.
“Why are you crying?”
He Shu’s eyes flew wide open. She was so shocked that the crying stopped right then and there. She couldn’t help but look up at the person who had spoken.
How could she…
“System, come out right now! Why isn’t she following the script? Is she changing the plot? Is she going to kill me right away?”
In the original novel, the line she was supposed to say at this point was, ‘Please, let me go.’
That line had an explanation too:
“Cen Qianyi says this, not out of genuine fear. It is her habit. Once she mentally sentences someone to death, she uses their reaction to her plea to decide how they should die.”
Yes, death was certain. But she might get a quicker, less painful one. That was probably the only mercy the end-of-the-world villainess had.
But now she hadn’t said the line! He Shu’s skin crawled.
Did she lose her shot at a reduced sentence?
Was it the licking? Did she do it wrong?
In the novel, licking worked just fine. She had even gone at it with all the urgency of a frog catching a mosquito.
Was it not enough?
“System! System! Get out here right now! What do I say now? She’s not sticking to the lines!”
He Shu was on the verge of tears again when the flat, emotionless electronic voice finally responded.
“The host may freestyle. Please follow up with dialogue.”
“What? Freestyle?”
What was she supposed to come up with?
And this villainess… why was she asking why He Shu was crying?
Why else? Because she was terrified!
“Maybe I should just tell her straight up that I’m a poor soul who transmigrated into a messed-up novel. No, a messed-up soul who transmigrated into this twisted plot. Then I could throw myself at her feet, beg her not to kill me or destroy the world. A win-win for everyone.”
System reminder: “Spoilers will reset the plot from the beginning.”
He Shu: “Then what should I say?”
“Freestyle.”
He Shu stared into those pale purple eyes. Somehow, they looked even deeper than before.
She was usually good at quick comebacks. But now her mind was blank. After a long pause, her brilliant freestyle came down to two words:
“You guess.”
System: …
Cen Qianyi, whose hand was being held down by He Shu, curled her fingers slightly. Her nail grazed her fingertip, unlocking the blade disguised beneath her nail. Her gaze shifted back to He Shu, and whatever flicker of curiosity she had vanished.
“What are you trying to do to me?”
As she spoke, Cen Qianyi glanced sideways at the handcuff on her wrist. At first, she thought He Shu was just scared she might run, so she cuffed her. Then her eyes moved to the mouth gag nearby. So that was what had been in her mouth…
This woman really had a death wish.
Her ear twitched slightly. That sensation earlier… was that her idea of fun?
“You guess,” He Shu repeated, still freestyling.
Cen Qianyi raised an eyebrow. She hated guessing what others were thinking. Her knuckles tightened, her curled hand slowly forming a fist. It shrank until it looked almost boneless and became small enough to slip right out of the handcuffs.
He Shu didn’t notice. She was too stunned by the sudden panic that flickered in Cen Qianyi’s eyes.
“Please… let me go.”
The moment she heard that line, He Shu’s tear-filled eyes lit up. A line prompt popped up in her mind again.
The plot was back on track!
He Shu quickly let go of Cen Qianyi the moment the movement cue ended.
The sudden change made Cen Qianyi’s escaping hand return to normal. A hint of confusion flashed through her eyes.
Had she been found out?
He Shu had no idea she had narrowly escaped death again. She was too focused on her next line, which was deeply humiliating.
“Baby, that’s not how you beg.”
She sniffled once, leaned forward, and tugged at the already impossibly low neckline of Cen Qianyi’s robe.
With her eyes shut tight, she slipped one finger inside and gave a quick swipe along the cleavage.
“Don’t worry. I’ll teach you.”
The moment she finished, He Shu yanked her hand back like she had just touched fire. She looked so panicked, it was as if one second later and she would’ve been burned.
Cen Qianyi: …
She looked down at the pulled-down robe, then glanced at the woman sitting by the bed who didn’t even dare to look at her…
What was she even doing?
Knock knock knock.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
At the same time, the electronic voice chimed in He Shu’s head.
“Congratulations, Host. First scene successfully completed. The second scene is about to begin. Please prepare to receive the script.”
He Shu looked at the prompt, then rushed to open the door. At the same time, a crucial thought struck her.
“System, why was Cen Qianyi allowed to change her lines? If she can do it, why can’t I?”
“The host is an outsider. Completing the original plot is required to integrate into this world. Original characters are not bound by that rule.”
He Shu frowned. “Then why was I allowed to freestyle after she went off-script?”
“Developments caused by original characters beyond the script are not restricted by the story world.”
He Shu realized something very important.
“So I can’t touch the plot, but Cen Qianyi can at any time. If she wants to kill me on the spot, I might not even survive long enough to finish the original story?”
The system said, “Good luck, Host!”
He Shu took a deep breath, feeling even more anxious.
“What do you mean good luck? I can’t change anything, so trying just gets me killed faster!”
That was true. But He Shu was terrified of dying… After going through all these perverted scenes, if she died now, wouldn’t that make her just a pervert with nothing to show for it?
She had to find time to read the original novel. Maybe there was a way to survive.
Still thinking, she opened the door.
The electronic voice chimed again.
“Second scene begins.”
Standing at the door were Su Zhi and Pei Congxin. Both of them looked surprised when they saw He Shu.
Su Zhi quickly lowered her gaze and respectfully said, “Boss, Dr. Pei is here.”
She stepped aside to reveal the woman behind her.
Pei Congxin quickly composed herself and nodded. “President He.”
She was He Shu’s doctor. She also knew about He Shu’s ‘tastes.’ Even though she played rough, she was an S… What could have made her cry like this?
Her eyes were swollen. Had it been that intense?
He Shu had no idea what they were thinking. The moment Su Zhi called her ‘Boss,’ something inside her soared like her tail was wagging.
She had become a boss!!!
And this doctor in a lab coat was such a talented woman. Calling her ‘President He’ so politely.
The summary said she was a domineering CEO. She hadn’t felt it until now. But this moment? It felt amazing.
So amazing, she almost forgot her life was still on the line.
Following the prompt, she pretended to stay calm and nodded.
“Come in.”
She turned and walked inside, sitting on the guest couch as the prompt instructed.
Su Zhi closed the door after Pei Congxin entered.
Pei Congxin walked over to the bedside with her medical kit. She was even more surprised when she saw the person in the bed.
Though the woman’s eyes showed a trace of panic, everything else looked fine. If it weren’t for the handcuffs, Pei Congxin would’ve thought He Shu had suddenly changed her preferences.
She hid her confusion and calmly put on her gloves.
The medical kit was perfectly square. When opened, it emitted a soft blue glow.
He Shu quietly watched from the side.
She saw Pei Congxin take out a glass vial from the box, draw its dark blue liquid into a syringe, and inject it into a purple vial.
Instantly, the purple liquid turned much darker.
Pei Congxin then used a fresh needle to draw the new liquid.
She turned to He Shu.
“President He, Lan Ye No.1 is ready. Shall I proceed?”
Although she had come for this exact task, she still needed confirmation.
He Shu looked at the stuff in her hand. With the dialogue and setting together, she finally figured it out. This must be Lan Ye No.1.
“System, what is this Lan Ye No.1?”
“A blinding agent. It causes blindness.”
Blindness???
He Shu’s eyes widened. Her character was really going to blind someone!
She looked at the woman on the bed. Cen Qianyi had her head tilted slightly, watching her too.
Their eyes met. Those pale purple irises looked unusually dark. The sharp gaze felt like it could peel away her skin and rip out her heart.
If He Shu wasn’t already sitting, her knees would have buckled on the spot.
No wonder the original story had her eyes gouged out. Turns out, she had blinded Cen Qianyi first!
“Wait! But she wasn’t blind when she tortured me in the novel.”
How could she turn her hand bones into instruments and play music if she were blind?
The system replied, “Pei Congxin modified Lan Ye No.1. The first use causes temporary blindness for one day. The second time lasts a month. The third use leads to a year of blindness. If it is used four times in a row, the result is permanent blindness.”
He Shu sucked in a breath. “Stupid system! Next time, explain everything at once!”
She broke out in cold sweat. If she had really blinded her, she wouldn’t just be a pervert, she’d be trash too!
Alarms blared again in her mind. Facing those murderous eyes, she followed the next line.
“Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Pei.”
Pei Congxin received the cue, lifted the edge of the blanket, and gave the shot directly to Cen Qianyi’s leg.
The entire syringe was slowly emptied into her body.
Cen Qianyi gradually stopped moving. She looked like she had fallen asleep.
Pei Congxin packed up her things, turned, and gave He Shu a smile filled with flattery and something slightly suggestive.
He Shu knew what she was going to say next. She held back her tears.
“President He, I added a little something extra with Lan Ye No.1. Just to make sure you enjoy yourself even more.”
He Shu gripped the sofa tightly, half from anger and half from frustration.
No wonder people say birds of a feather flock together. The flunky of a pervert really knew how to get her killed.
She didn’t even ask what was added. Maybe that was what being a CEO truly meant. Always appearing composed, as if everything was firmly within reach and entirely under control.
“Thanks.”
He Shu practically ground those words out.
Pei Congxin knew exactly what they meant. She left, satisfied.
The room fell silent again. Then, the electronic voice rang in He Shu’s mind.
“Ding ding ding. Scene two complete. Reward issued.”
“Hospital scene complete. Reward issued.”
“Congratulations to the host for surviving the beginner stage. Extra reward issued.”
The cheerful music paired with the emotionless voice created an odd festive mood. He Shu couldn’t even cry in this tragic setting.
“What rewards?”
Another round of announcements followed.
“Scene one reward: One antidote to muscle paralysis.”
“Scene two reward: One white cane.”
“Hospital arc reward: One white lab coat.”
“Beginner bonus: Three-day Killing Intent Sensor card.”
He Shu stared at the items. A cane? A lab coat? What were these supposed to be good for?
Only the muscle paralysis antidote seemed remotely useful in case she ever got injected with something.
The last item confused her.
“Killing Intent Sensor card? What does it do?”
“Didn’t you want to know if someone was about to kill you? With this, it’s like an early warning system. A new player perk~”
He Shu asked, “Is it accurate?”
“You can try it.”
He Shu tapped the activation button in her mind.
In the next second, she saw tiny blades take shape in the air. All of them pointed straight at her.
Oh my god, so this is killing intent?
Then the alarms in her head exploded.
A piercing electronic voice screamed,
“Run! Host, run!”
He Shu looked up.
The person who was supposed to be unconscious in the hospital bed had opened her eyes.
Those pale purple eyes shimmered like frozen crystals, sharp and deadly in their intensity.
Storyteller Kliraz's Words
I just found out someone is already translating this. When I started the raws, I checked NU, and there was none. I only saw it today, after posting the first 15 chapters. This isn't sniping, just bad timing ✌️.
