Around one o’clock in the morning, something unusual appeared in the purple light dot!

In the darkness, Lu Cheng’s eyes flickered sharply.

Originally, the dot had been moving within a small, twenty-square-meter range—but now it was heading north.

Farther and farther…

Even beyond the temple walls!

Lu Cheng was shocked. The basement could really be that big?

The purple dot moved in a straight line, more than a hundred meters beyond the temple’s courtyard.

Lu Cheng scaled the wall, keeping a thirty-meter distance as he followed “Hui Ming.”

One above, one below.

Lu Cheng confirmed that beneath him was a tunnel—leading to the back mountain.

An earth-shattering discovery!

He’d only seen something like this in movies.

The tunnel wasn’t long; after about three hundred meters, Hui Ming emerged.

The purple dot moved upward.

Under a pile of dry leaves and weeds, a rusty metal plate flipped open, revealing a shiny bald head.

Lu Cheng crouched, hiding behind a tree.

Hui Ming climbed out of the hidden passage, wearing a dark blue robe. He dusted off the dirt, glanced around, and noted only the chirping of insects and the rustling of the wind through the trees.

He walked several dozen meters east, then paused.

Lu Cheng held his breath, hidden in the shadows.

After five or six minutes, a woman in her thirties appeared on the mountain.

Casually dressed, fair-skinned, slightly plump, but wearing a worried expression.

Lu Cheng squinted, trying to place her—he recalled her coming to the temple that afternoon to pray for a child.

She had been generous, stuffing several large red bills into the donation box, and had come with two bodyguards. Clearly wealthy.

Hui Ming had spent half an hour alone talking with her. Lu Cheng remembered that well.

At this hour, coming to pray for a child?

Relying on outside help?

And from a monk, of all people?

Does her husband even know?

Lu Cheng shook his head. Wealthy families really were messy.

But… there was nothing he could do here.

At most, it was an illicit affair. Sure, Hui Ming’s monk identity made things shocking—but no law forbade a monk from having an affair.

The woman was willing; what objection could anyone have?

Just as he was thinking this, the woman’s expression suddenly changed while speaking softly with Hui Ming. First anger, then fear.

Hui Ming pulled out a handkerchief and pressed it over her nose and mouth.

Within seconds, she went limp, collapsing into his arms.

Lu Cheng’s heart skipped a beat. This wasn’t voluntary—he had drugged her!

Then he saw Hui Ming hoist her over his shoulder and head quickly toward the tunnel entrance.

Lu Cheng hurriedly pulled out his phone, sent a message to Lin Wenbin on night duty, then tucked the phone away and followed Hui Ming.

Hui Ming climbed out of the tunnel, replacing the iron cover.

In Lu Cheng’s vision, the purple dot moved toward the abbot’s courtyard.

He waited until Hui Ming had gone farther, then gently lifted the iron plate. A vertical ladder led down, and Lu Cheng descended.

The tunnel was dark. A single distant light came from the basement, mostly blocked by Hui Ming ahead.

Lu Cheng hugged the wall as he moved, ready in case Hui Ming looked back—but that was unlikely.

He activated Silent Step.

The tunnel twisted slightly, almost a straight line.

Hui Ming reached the basement with the woman slung over his shoulder.

Lu Cheng pressed against the wall, stopping forty meters away. Going closer risked being seen.

His eyes, sharp as a pilot’s, took in the basement layout:

A mattress, an iron cabinet, two chairs. The rest was standard.

Then came the strange stuff: whips on metal racks, handcuffs, belts with balls, steel cages, yoga straps for suspension…

The variety made Lu Cheng’s heart race. His single, innocent life had never imagined anything like this.

In the corner, a tripod held a DSLR camera.

Lu Cheng muttered under his breath, “Good heavens… the man really has his hobbies!”

Buddha, you’re supposed to be watching over this, aren’t you? You see none of this?

…

Around 2 a.m., Chen Weimin slept soundly at home, snoring loudly.

Suddenly, his phone rang, jolting both him and his wife awake.

Chen Weimin rarely received emergency calls in the middle of the night—he had slept peacefully for nearly two years.

His wife grabbed the phone from the nightstand and tossed it to him.

“Director Chen, your phone’s ringing!”

“Ah? Oh… okay.”

Rubbing sleep from his eyes, Chen Weimin answered.

“Who is it?”

“It’s me, Xiao Lin… Lin Wenbin!”

“Midnight? What’s going on?”

He turned on the bedside lamp and sat up.

“Lu Cheng just messaged me. There’s an emergency at Qianfo Temple—a sexual assault in progress. He said we need to respond immediately!”

“What?!”

The words sexual assault woke Chen Weimin completely.

“Who sent you this? Lu Cheng? Isn’t he on leave?”

“Yes. I called him, but no answer—probably on silent.”

Chen Weimin thought for three seconds. Qianfo Temple?!

This wasn’t a prank, especially from a police officer.

His heart raced. He hurriedly got dressed, instructing over the phone:

“Xiao Lin, notify everyone. Respond immediately!”

Dressed, he called the Criminal Investigation Brigade for backup.

This kind of case ultimately belonged to the detectives anyway.

Xiao Zheng and Xiao Hu, on duty at the brigade, got the call and alerted their superiors.

Qin Mian had gone to the provincial office in the afternoon, currently away from Yuhua District.

The phone then rang at Su Qingwu’s line…

Police cars from both the brigade and Sanliqiao Station sped toward Qianfo Temple, red and blue lights flashing.

…

In the basement below the temple, Lu Cheng shielded his phone screen, dimmed the brightness, turned off the flash, and began recording.

Every bit of evidence mattered.

Hui Ming was about to assault the woman.

Though she was unconscious—like someone drunk—lying on the mattress.

Hui Ming set up the DSLR, adjusting the lens and focus. His movements were practiced, clearly having done this many times.

He picked up whips, handcuffs, red cords, candles…

Then he began removing his robe.

A muscular torso appeared, decorated with a snake tattoo.

The Hui Ming before Lu Cheng was no longer the gentle, compassionate monk of daylight—he exuded sleaze and perverse intent.

He faced away from the tunnel entrance.

Lu Cheng crept closer, armed with a fake gun and cable ties.

Hui Ming bent down to remove the woman’s clothing—but suddenly, the muscles in his back tensed!

Perhaps instinct, perhaps a glance.

He turned—just in time to see the sole of a size 43 shoe heading straight for his face!
