The boxing gym was nearly empty that evening. Su Qingwu led Lu Cheng inside, and after changing into their gear, they were ready to start training.

Perhaps because Lu Cheng had seen her struggle with spicy food earlier, Su Qingwu had come late at night to “silence the evidence” in her own way.

On the ring.

Su Qingwu tossed a set of protective gear to him, just like last time. The pads were to reduce the pain for Officer Lu when he got hit.

Lu Cheng caught them and glanced at her before tossing them back.
“This time, you wear them.”

Su Qingwu just let out a soft “Hmph,” then threw the gear out of the ring.

They squared off, and the fight began.

Su Qingwu lifted her toned leg and kicked at Lu Cheng, just as lightning-quick and deadly as last time.

Lu Cheng dodged rapidly, twisting his waist and pivoting his hips, countering with an uppercut.

Su Qingwu leaned back to evade, and Lu Cheng followed with a whip-like roundhouse kick.

Su Qingwu jumped diagonally aside, swinging a punch at Lu Cheng’s face…

Back and forth, they exchanged a full round before stepping apart. Su Qingwu’s chest heaved with exertion, a surge of energy apparent in her every movement.

Lu Cheng’s breathing remained steady. With his Level 2 combat mastery and strength and endurance both over twenty, his physical condition had improved drastically.

The crucial point—he could now spar evenly with Su Qingwu.

In any contest, when skill levels are comparable, the final determinant is stamina.

Thus, Su Qingwu’s defeat was inevitable.

Of course, she had no idea of this herself—she was only surprised at how much Lu Cheng had improved in just a few days.

The next round, Su Qingwu attacked with full force, and Lu Cheng handled it with ease.

Their fighting skills were evenly matched. A punch from her, a kick from him.

Yet Su Qingwu’s stamina was halved, while Lu Cheng had only used one-fifth of his.

Su Qingwu’s kicks barely phased him. His punches, however, hit like iron hammers.

He held back, of course—not aiming to hurt her—but the strength was undeniable.

Eventually, Su Qingwu’s energy depleted, and she stopped.

Though exhilarated by the spar, a few bruises appeared on her fair skin.

She furrowed her brows but bore the pain.

Afterwards, she went to the locker room to shower.

Warm water cascaded over her head as she lathered up, replaying the fight in her mind.

It was hard to believe—the once slightly weaker Lu Cheng had now reached a point where he could go toe-to-toe with her. His combat talent was extraordinary.

Both his strength and speed had improved immensely.

Su Qingwu could easily imagine him training secretly, day after day, shirtless and drenched in sweat, building lean muscles and solid abs… all for the chance to face her in the ring.

Men and their pride.

A sense of respect began to form in her heart.

Back in college, suitors lined up from the east gate to the west gate, yet Su Qingwu had strict standards: a man must be smarter than her, and able to defeat her—otherwise, how could he conquer her heart?

Such high standards didn’t scare off suitors—they only made them try harder.

But reality was cruel.

Su Qingwu’s combat coach was a retired special forces soldier, a real war veteran.

Her fighting skill matched her beauty.

She effortlessly threw down anyone who tried to challenge her, whether a taekwondo eighth dan or judo ninth-level student.

From then on, those who pursued her recognized the truth: beneath the cold, flawless exterior lay terrifying combat prowess.

And her intellect? Always top of her class.

Slowly, her suitors disappeared—not from lack of desire, but from lack of qualification.

They assumed the goddess Su would remain single forever.

Lu Cheng, of course, didn’t know he’d earned her recognition.

When Su Qingwu finished showering, the scent of her lingered in the room. Her fair skin glowed with a faint flush.

Her clear eyes shimmered, her lips were soft and dewy like morning roses, and her dark hair framed her neck like silk. Every inch of her was breathtaking.

Question: How did Lu Cheng react?

Answer: He didn’t look away.

Men aren’t always lustful—they just can’t ignore beauty in full bloom.

Slap!

A towel flew over his face, covering his burning gaze.

Lu Cheng retracted his eyes and obediently stepped into the shower. Cold water drenched him, invigorating every muscle.

Just as he stepped out, a bottle of red flower oil was tossed to him. He caught it.

“Back.”

Two words, cold and precise.

Then she lay face down on the bed.

Though her tone was aloof, it wasn’t commanding—just her way with familiar people, cutting unnecessary politeness.

This spot on her back was hard to reach. She couldn’t ask Shen Fang at home to rub it, too much fuss.

Here, Officer Lu became the perfect tool.

He looked at the bottle, then at Su Qingwu lying on the bed.

She wore beige work shorts—not loose, not tight, fitting perfectly to her skin.

Her waist-to-hip ratio formed smooth curves. Her fair, porcelain legs were together, calves toned, ankles perfect, feet exquisite.

Lu Cheng took a deep breath. Has she… stopped treating me like an outsider?

He poured a little oil into his palm, rubbed it warm, then lifted her white tank top.

“What are you doing?” Her cold voice carried a hint of irritation.

Lu Cheng looked innocent.
“You said to apply the oil, right?”

“Right below the left shoulder blade! Why lift my shirt?”

“Ah?! Oh… sorry!”

He’d spotted a hidden bruise under the fabric.

“Sorry, I pressed too hard.”

He felt a pang of guilt—how could he be so reckless?

Su Qingwu didn’t mind. She was a front-line detective; minor injuries were normal.

As Lu Cheng carefully rubbed the oil, focused and without distraction, she felt warmth radiate across her muscles.

Once done, they packed up and headed home.

Two days later at Sanliqiao Precinct…

Song Chengfeng, Zhao Han, Cheng Zhijie, Lin Wenbin, and others clicked their tongues in amazement.

The Jeep promised by the economic investigation team had arrived—high ground clearance, imposing, and nearly new.

A crowd quickly gathered to admire it.

Lu Cheng realized he had been “traded” by Chen Weimin—he was only worth half a year’s use of a Jeep. He sighed silently.

Chen Weimin patted him on the shoulder.
“This time you’re helping the Economic Investigation Team. Represent Sanliqiao well, but don’t be reckless. Follow instructions, and remember your recent self-criticism!”

After the reminder, Lu Cheng was taken away by the team.

Lin Wenbin, Yuan Jie, and Chen Zelong watched the Jeep vanish, envious.

They wanted to assist too, but someone like Lu Cheng was snatched up everywhere—impossible for them to compete.

At the Economic Investigation office, Fan Wanqing organized a short briefing.

The mission: meet an outsider named Wang Xiaolong from a counterfeit bill gang to trade two printing machines at 11:30 p.m. in Hongtang District, Jianghai City.

The gang was cunning; trades had to involve someone familiar. Wang Xiaolong rarely showed his face.

One of the gang leaders, Zhu Yaojie, knew Wang Xiaolong from a nightclub encounter. After some contact, Wang had sold him one printing machine.

Now that Zhu was under police control, he would call Wang to request two more machines.

For safety, a police officer had to accompany him.

Fan Wanqing had her eyes on Lu Cheng.

Last time, at the nightclub, in the dim light, Zhu Yaojie’s cousin had also been there. He was briefly seen, and Wang Xiaolong, slightly drunk, didn’t remember clearly.

Lu Cheng could impersonate the cousin—height and build matched, only his face was too good-looking, which could be altered with makeup.

Other young officers fit the criteria, but Fan Wanqing trusted Lu Cheng’s skills the most.
