The man froze. “???”
He had been on the run for over a year. The heat was long gone, and he always wore a mask when going out.
He had passed by the police station countless times before—so why, of all times, was he caught this time?
He felt wronged.
Luo Yong barely had time to be surprised before Lu Cheng had already slapped the handcuffs on him. He hurriedly asked,
“Wait, he’s a wanted criminal? Are you sure?”
“Positive! Look at those eyes, that brow—100%!”
Lu Cheng’s expression was firm. “I forgot his name, but the face looks familiar.”
With the Flycatcher skill triggered, there was no way he could have grabbed the wrong person.
Luo Yong glanced at the masked man, then at Lu Cheng, thinking: He’s covered so well—how can you be sure? Recognize a wanted criminal just by eyes and brows?
The anti-theft team was dumbfounded. Could Lu Cheng really be some sort of golden-eyed detective?
The four or five groups that had set out earlier hadn’t gone far before returning, shaking their heads at the sight of the masked man.
“Seriously? You’re telling me you can recognize a wanted criminal from that?”
They had brushed past him moments ago—there was no way they could have identified him.
Luo Yong immediately had a patrolling officer bring over the device to remove the man’s mask. Comparing the facial profile and fingerprints, it was indeed a wanted criminal who’d been on the run for one year and three months.
Unbelievable.
Luo Yong stared at Lu Cheng in awe. This kid had just stepped outside and already caught a wanted criminal. The nickname “Super Catcher” was well-earned.
And those eyes… they were deadly accurate. Talent like this was either there or it wasn’t.
Lu Cheng had clearly been blessed by the heavens.
The entire anti-theft squad clamored to be paired with “Lu Ge.” This was no rookie—the kid was a natural-born thief magnet, a walking third-class merit!
They believed that any squad with Lu Cheng would easily net a third-class merit.
Still, Luo Yong let Lu Cheng work solo. Pairing him with others could hold him back.
Riding his e-bike street by street, Lu Cheng swept through Shuangqiao district, twice the size of Sanliqiao, full of train stations, pedestrian streets, and department stores—a perfect hunting ground for pickpockets.
A single loop in Sanliqiao didn’t compare to three streets in Shuangqiao.
By midday, Lu Cheng had caught seven thieves—albeit all low-level ones, glowing green.
The smarter thieves had likely heard the wind and hidden, even Lu Cheng hadn’t run into them.
Still, one person catching seven thieves, plus a wanted criminal right off the bat? That was like a one-man squad—absurdly impressive.
At noon, they returned to the station. Everyone else had fast food, but Lu Cheng had a special stir-fry, personally arranged by Lv Zhengbo.
The treatment difference was obvious; Lu Cheng felt a bit embarrassed. But with results like his, it was deserved. Catch seven to eight thieves in a morning, and the captain himself cooks for you—fair enough.
Lv Zhengbo even called Chen Weimin to brag. Lu Cheng is extremely useful; “Super Catcher” isn’t an exaggeration.
Chen Weimin, hearing praise again, immediately asked if he could get the half-bottle of Moutai. Lv Zhengbo finally relented—he still wanted to borrow Lu Cheng in the future, after all, and would need good wine and food to keep him happy.
Full from lunch and with his e-bike charged, Lu Cheng went back on the streets.
If it weren’t for the e-bike needing a charge, he wouldn’t have returned—he’d have grabbed a bowl of noodles outside instead. No time to waste when there were thieves to catch.
The morning’s haul brought system rewards.
For every minor thief caught, he gained 0.5 attribute points: totaling +1 Strength, +2 Stamina, +0.5 Speed.
Current stats: Strength 21, Stamina 23, Speed 19.
With that stamina, chasing a crook ten miles at full speed was no problem. With his current speed, he’d have caught them long before ten miles anyway.
Catching the wanted criminal unlocked a new skill: [Precision Shooting lv1].
[Precision Shooting lv1: Greatly increases accuracy when using firearms.]
Just what he needed. Yesterday’s shooting training had been rough—his limp aim even made Su Qingwu shrug in boredom. Now he had a skill—saving plenty of bullets for Captain Qin.
Lu Cheng continued sweeping the streets on his e-bike. Around Wenwu Road’s Ecological Park, the Flycatcher skill triggered again.
A green dot appeared over a young man in a black T-shirt.
Lu Cheng followed him for a few minutes. The kid showed no signs of committing a crime, but with the skill triggered, the green dot was still active. Even if this minor thief hadn’t done anything today, he had a prior record.
Yet, catching him now… how would Lu Cheng explain it?
Wanted criminals were online with profiles and fingerprints, easy to identify. Minor thieves weren’t flagged in the same way. Arresting someone without direct evidence? Tricky.
For now, Lu Cheng decided to tail him, to see if he’d strike—or had accomplices.
With a 500-meter tracking range and the e-bike’s speed, following was effortless.
When the kid entered a small amusement park, Lu Cheng expected action.
Instead, he passed through and went into an old residential building.
Lu Cheng circled around and followed. The building was dilapidated, walls streaked, pipes rusted, a faint smell of old cooking oil lingering.
The kid knew exactly where he was going—this had to be his hideout. Possibly with accomplices.
Lu Cheng parked and locked the e-bike. In a place like this, security wasn’t great. If someone dared steal it, it would be their own fault. The bike had GPS tracking anyway.
He navigated through the cluttered hallway, floor one damp and musty. Acting like a resident, he followed the green dot to a unit on the second floor.
The minor thief was inside.
Lu Cheng pretended to pass by, keeping an eye with his peripheral vision. The door was closed, curtains drawn.
Who closes curtains in broad daylight?
He stopped forty meters away, in a hidden corner. The Flycatcher kept triggering.
One… two… three…
Besides the green dot on the thief, four others activated.
Five green dots in total—one in the thief’s room, the others in the adjacent unit.
Two rooms, five thieves?
Lu Cheng frowned. Then the dots flew again.
They landed on two rooms on the third floor.
Again, five dots.
One of the flies was blue.
Lu Cheng’s heart skipped a beat—what was happening? Nine minor thieves plus one major thief—ten in total!
Had he just walked into a den of thieves?
