One moment, the old man seemed harmless. The next, he was lunging with a blade straight for the throat!

The “Yellow Sparrow” leader knew he couldn’t escape. With the crimes he’d committed, prison was inevitable—at least eight years.

But pride ran deep in him. He wasn’t about to be caught without a fight. He was going all out: a desperate, do-or-die move.

Chen Feng’s back instantly broke out in a cold sweat. Instinctively, he leaned back to dodge.

But the middle-aged man’s speed was incredible. The blade was about to slice through Chen Feng’s throat.

A cruel smirk curled the man’s lips.

Luo Yong and the other officers were too far away to intervene.

Chen Feng was moments from meeting his great-grandmother when—

A sudden, powerful strike hit the man in the stomach, sending him flying.

The blade twisted mid-air, leaving only a shallow scratch across Chen Feng’s neck.

It was Lu Cheng, acting in the nick of time. A whip-like kick shot out with lethal precision.

The man flew three meters, then slid another meter on his knees.

Lifting his head, the man glared at Lu Cheng with hatred. “You… ugh! Ugh…”

Before he could finish, he vomited a mouthful of sour stomach acid.

Bystanders gasped. Just watching that kick hurt!

How could a young cop be this strong?!

The move happened so suddenly that many hadn’t even processed it yet.

Luo Yong snapped back to focus, rushed forward, and slammed the man’s head into the puddle he had just vomited. With a knee to his back, he cuffed him.

The other officers finally reacted, helping to haul the “Yellow Sparrow” leader to his feet.

Luo Yong turned to Chen Feng. “You okay?”

“I’m fine…” Chen Feng touched the scratch. It was shallow, barely worth a bandage.

Luo Yong looked at Lu Cheng, impressed. “You’ve got some serious leg strength, kid.”

Even he hadn’t expected such skill.

Chen Feng, still shaken but grateful, nodded to Lu Cheng. “Thanks.”

Lu Cheng just shook his head.

The anti-pickpocket operation concluded successfully the next day.

Not only had they caught a wanted thief, but they also reeled in the “Yellow Sparrow” gang—the big fish.

And without a doubt, the hero of both victories was Lu Cheng.

This trainee cop from Sanliqiao Station was just too good.

Yesterday it was him. Today it was him again. Why was it always him?

No cooldown on showing off, apparently!

This anti-pickpocket operation had become his personal stage.

At the Shuangqiao station canteen, exhausted officers gathered for a well-earned meal.

Between bites, they discussed Lu Cheng.

The highlight was, of course, the kick that sent the “Yellow Sparrow” leader flying—utterly badass.

“That kid isn’t just good at catching thieves—his skills are insane!”

“Seriously, trainees have gotten this competitive now?”

“Stop joking. A trainee, only a week on the job, catching wanted criminals like they’re chickens? He doesn’t deserve to be a trainee—promote him immediately!”

“Where is Lu Cheng now? Why don’t I see him?”

“Director Lü took him out for grilled fish. You don’t just ignore a prodigy like that. Probably the station’s stats for this year rely on him alone.”

“Damn! Next time we need backup, we better call him.”

At Da Fu Fish House, the private room hosted only Lu Cheng among trainees.

The others were directors or veteran officers, including Chen Feng.

After that kick, Chen Feng’s life had been spared, and his attitude toward Lu Cheng had shifted completely.

This trainee from Qingshijing Station—a top graduate from the police academy, of all people—was no match for Lu Cheng. In just two days, Lu Cheng’s perception, speed, and combat skills had utterly eclipsed the academy’s finest.

The gap between them was staggering.

If Wan Gang had managed to swap Lu Cheng to Qingshijing, their director would be the one boasting now.

Yesterday, Chen Weimin had been cocky, practically putting his feet on the table.

Today, he had toned it down, playing humble instead.

“Hey, it’s not a big deal. Caught a wanted thief, nabbed a few Yellow Sparrows—I’m used to it. This kid, on his first day before even officially reporting, catches a wanted criminal as a welcome gift for us? Too young to behave, learning all the wrong lessons!”

Everyone else rolled their eyes. Only the Sanliqiao cops could appreciate his humblebrag.

Even so, envy was real. Any station would want a trainee like him—would sell everything just to have him.

Later, when Lü Zhengbo called Chen Weimin, asking him to meet at the usual spot for grilled fish, even replacing the wine with rare Maotai, Chen Weimin suspected Lu Cheng had caught another wanted criminal.

It turned out to be even bigger: the notorious “Yellow Sparrow” gang, infamous across the entire province, finally captured.

Although it was a group effort, Lu Cheng had played the pivotal role.

Who’d dare send a trainee to catch such big fish? Everyone—except Lu Cheng.

Meanwhile, Yuan Jie and Lin Wenbin had caught a couple of small-time thieves. Excitedly reporting back, Lin Wenbin tried to tag along for grilled fish, only to be coldly refused.

“What? Two petty thieves and you want grilled fish? Know your place! Next time, don’t bother reporting small fry—I’m a busy director!”

After hanging up, Yuan Jie muttered, “Our director’s gotten full of himself. Even petty thieves aren’t worth his attention now.”

Lin Wenbin sighed. “Back in the day, petty thieves in Sanliqiao were invisible. Since Lu Cheng arrived, everything’s changed.”

The anti-pickpocket operation would continue for a few more days, but Sanliqiao’s young cops were only assigned for two days.

Tomorrow, Chen Weimin would pull them back.

After all, Sanliqiao hadn’t officially been selected for this operation. Plus, a homicide case had arisen in their district, and suspects were connected to Sanliqiao. They’d need all hands on deck for the investigation.

Lü Zhengbo considered asking to keep Lu Cheng behind but decided against it.

There was no need. Lu Cheng was a prized asset, and Chen Weimin had no intention of letting him go.

After these two days, with all the thieves caught, including the “Yellow Sparrow” gang, the streets would be quiet for a while.

Lü Zhengbo patted Chen Weimin’s shoulder. “If you need Shuangqiao’s help, just say the word.”

Chen Weimin waved him off. “Next time, we’ll handle it. If there’s a shortage, the higher-ups will assign help.”

Chen Weimin and Zhao Han only drank a small amount that day. Tomorrow, Sanliqiao Station would officially join the homicide investigation.

The last homicide in the district had been in March last year, solved quickly. Still, a murder in this small district caused panic.

Yang Zheng had ordered the Criminal Investigation Division to solve the case within a week, with Sanliqiao Station fully cooperating.

Lu Cheng, hearing the word homicide, stiffened—both serious and secretly excited.

With his system, he knew he could play a huge role in cracking the case.
