Huang Mao smeared blood all over his face, looking as if Lu Cheng had cracked his skull open.

Seeing this, Lu Cheng’s mind instantly conjured up an image of Brother Fa applauding with a smile. Tsk. A little over the top, but hey, it works.

In the middle of the waiting hall, Huang Mao created a scene of chaos.

Passengers cried out in alarm.

“So much blood! Did he kill him?”
“Young people these days—no sense of restraint!”
“Quick, call 120!”
“The police are over there! Officer! Someone’s dying!”

…

The on-duty officers had no idea what was going on. They hurried over.

Meanwhile, Ding Chengzhi’s group of three plainclothes—already exposed—had their attention pulled away.

This was exactly the “Yellow Sparrow” gang’s plan.

One move, two results.

Huang Mao faked an “accident,” drawing the eyes of both uniformed police and plainclothes, and along with them, the crowd of passengers.

In the chaos, the young couple began their real work.

They had already scouted their marks: who carried fat wallets, who had expensive luggage, who wore thick gold chains, who held the latest, priciest phones… they knew them all.

Now, they showed off their true skill—pickpocketing.

They slipped wallets and phones from pockets and bags as easily as reaching into their own. Clean, precise, not a wasted movement. A performance as smooth as a painting.

On the surveillance feeds Luo Yong and the others were watching, the scene looked like something straight out of a movie.

At the center of the hall, Huang Mao clutched Lu Cheng’s arm, wailing and demanding 120 be called, insisting Lu Cheng pay him compensation, even begging the police to cuff him.

On the other side, his partners stole to their hearts’ content.

And in one corner, a well-dressed middle-aged man sat back, smiling faintly, the calm fisherman waiting for his catch.

Chen Feng chuckled. “These sparrows are good. They really set the board.”

Lv Zhengbo cut him a glance. “If you hadn’t already been exposed, you’d be their pawns right now.”

Chen Feng’s face stiffened.

Luo Yong kept silent.

It was true. Without Lu Cheng’s discovery, they would have had no choice but to dance on the enemy’s strings.

The Yellow Sparrows’ method was simple but deadly. First, send a punk as bait to test for plainclothes. Until they identified undercover cops, they wouldn’t make a move.

Once they did? The plan began.

The punk created a ruckus, plainclothes were distracted, and the couple worked right under their noses—a trick of “darkness beneath the lamp.”

Afterwards, the punk might face a minor charge—disturbing the peace, brawling at most. A few days in detention, nothing more.

Meanwhile, the real thieves boarded the train with pockets full and vanished.

Luo Yong drew in a deep breath. If not for Lu Cheng, they would have been pawns.

Now? They were the players.

What a reversal.

Chen Feng didn’t want to admit it, but it was true. Thanks to Lu Cheng, they could sit back and watch the Yellow Sparrows perform.

It was Lu Cheng who had suggested turning the tables.

Lv Zhengbo sighed. “This kid’s just an intern, and already he’s this sharp? What’s he going to be like in the future?”

One grilled fish dinner wouldn’t cut it. Not by a long shot.

…

When the young couple had stolen enough, the four plainclothes lying in wait prepared to strike.

At the same time, two more anti-theft teams, already stationed at the exits, moved into position.

At the center of the hall, Huang Mao clung to Lu Cheng’s leg, shouting for the police to haul him off to jail.

The uniformed officers had no idea what was happening. But when they saw Lu Cheng’s face, their eyes widened in disbelief.

Wasn’t this the intern from Sanliqiao Substation—Lu Cheng—the same one taking part in the anti-theft operation?

They didn’t know every young officer in the city, but Lu Cheng? Hard to forget.

Not just his striking looks, but his infamous talent—“the guy who always catches the thief.” Just hours ago, he had nabbed a kingpin.

And now… what the hell was this?

The officers hesitated.

That’s when Ding Chengzhi strode over. Without a word, he pulled the cuffs from his belt.

Click.

Huang Mao got himself a shiny pair of bracelets.

“Huh?!”

Blood-smeared, Huang Mao stared in shock. “Wait—I’m the victim here! Why are you cuffing me?!”

Ding Chengzhi smirked. “What, you want me to cuff him? My own colleague?”

Huang Mao: ???

He turned to Lu Cheng, eyes wide in terror. “You… you’re a cop?!”

Lu Cheng gave a faint smile. He reached out, wiped some of the blood from Huang Mao’s face, brought it to his nose, and sniffed.

“Mm. Pig’s blood. Nice prop.”

Huang Mao’s expression drained of color. His horror-movie face looked even more grotesque.

The passengers around them were still baffled. What on earth was happening?

In the distance, the young couple’s faces changed as well. And the middle-aged man in the corner, once relaxed, stiffened.

Their carefully laid trap had been torn apart.

The couple tried to bolt, but four plainclothes appeared out of nowhere, cutting them off.

At the same time, the two anti-theft squads burst in through the doors.

At their head was Captain Luo Yong, with Chen Feng at his side.

“Don’t move! It’s over! Yellow Sparrows—you’re in the cage now!”

Luo Yong strode forward, brimming with triumph.

Two days of waiting, and finally, they had them.

The couple went pale at the sight of so many officers. They knew it was over. They raised their wrists for the cuffs without resistance.

But Luo Yong’s eyes swept toward the southeast corner.

“The other one? Where is he?”

“He was just there! How did he vanish?”

“Search! He’s not getting away!”

The officers began combing the hall, securing passengers in place.

“Captain Luo! He’s not in the hall. He… he’s gone.”

Luo Yong frowned. “Check the toilets.”

Chen Feng took two men to check. A moment later, he came back shaking his head.

“What the—did the guy evaporate?”

Luo Yong’s brows furrowed.

At that moment, Lu Cheng walked over from the direction of the toilets. Under Chen Feng’s confused gaze, he stopped an old man in a pumpkin hat.

“Hey, kid, what are you doing?” the old man grumbled. Beneath his reading glasses, his face was marked with age spots, framed by black-and-white whiskers.

“Drop the act. Nice disguise, though.”

Others might not have seen it—but Lu Cheng had. A tiny green-glowing fly perched on the man’s pant leg had given him away.

Luo Yong and Chen Feng stared in shock.

What?! Him? The middle-aged man?

Disguise? This wasn’t just makeup—this was a full-blown transformation.

No wonder thieves were so hard to catch nowadays. They had acting chops and makeup skills.

But Lu Cheng… his eyes were razor-sharp. To see through that?

Chen Feng reached out, intending to yank off the old man’s hat.

Suddenly—

The old man’s eyes gleamed with cold light beneath his glasses.

With a flick of his wrist, a razor-sharp blade slipped between his fingers. He swung upward, aiming straight for Chen Feng’s throat.

“Watch out!” Luo Yong roared.
