After hearing Luo Yong’s reminder through his earpiece, Lu Cheng found a spot with a good view and sat down.

But he didn’t follow Luo Yong to the south seats. Instead, he chose a spot near the entrance turnstiles and pulled out his phone to play a game.

Chen Feng, watching Lu Cheng on the surveillance monitor, chuckled at Luo Yong. “Young people have their own ideas. He doesn’t listen to you at all, Captain Luo.”

Luo Yong shook his head. “Let him be.”

If it were another trainee, he would have scolded them immediately.

But Lu Cheng… he wasn’t ordinary. Let him handle things his own way.

Chen Feng opened his mouth but thought better of it. He didn’t say anything.

Lu Cheng wasn’t idly killing time. Using his system skill [Flycatcher], which actively triggers within a 30-meter radius, he scanned the entire waiting hall.

The 30 meters formed a spherical range centered on him, including vertical distance—so even the second-floor waiting hall was covered.

The result? [Flycatcher] didn’t trigger.

In just a few minutes, Lu Cheng had scanned the old station’s waiting hall, with its twenty thousand daily passengers. Not even restrooms or the tea room were spared.

Meanwhile, at the police command center, Luo Yong and the others were glued to the surveillance feeds.

The old station had plenty of blind spots. Beyond 25 meters, faces blurred, and pickpockets’ covert actions became impossible to track.

Thus, the usual method relied on undercover officers watching in person, with monitors as a supplement. Anti-pickpocket operations here were notoriously tough.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Lu Cheng had already completed a full sweep in mere minutes.

Conclusion: the “Yellow Sparrow” gang hadn’t made a move yet.

Clever criminals were often more patient than cops. Lu Cheng wasn’t in a rush—he waited near the turnstiles, playing King of Glory, with Lu Bu smashing everything in sight.

An hour passed. After two MVP victories, just as he was about to start a third match, [Flycatcher] activated.

Lu Cheng closed his game and scrolled through Douyin, keeping an eye on the entrance.

A well-dressed middle-aged man scanned his ID and entered. [Flycatcher] flew to him and perched on his trouser leg.

Around fifty, carrying a travel bag, the man chose a corner to sit—just out of camera range.

Moments later, a young man with yellow hair entered, triggering [Flycatcher] again.

Two minutes later, a pair of young tourists with a DSLR walked in, taking photos intermittently, activating the skill again.

After that, no further triggers occurred.

Lu Cheng suspected all four were part of the same gang. Careful observation confirmed his hunch.

Though they didn’t physically interact, occasional eye contact betrayed coordination.

These four were likely the infamous “Yellow Sparrow” gang.

The big catch had arrived.

At the command center, Luo Yong asked over the comms if anyone noticed anything unusual.

From the monitors, nothing seemed off.

“Not yet.”
“Nothing here either.”
“No abnormal activity.”

Lu Cheng also reported “nothing”—for now, the gang hadn’t acted. He couldn’t exactly explain what made them suspicious. He couldn’t admit he was seeing things through a system skill.

“Are they just… waiting?” Luo Yong frowned. Patience was wearing thin.

Lü Zhengbo patted Luo Yong on the shoulder. “Big fish aren’t that easy to catch.”

With that, he went upstairs, leaving Luo Yong, Chen Feng, and three intelligence officers monitoring the feeds.

For half an hour, Lu Cheng scrolled Douyin while subtly observing the gang.

From over a week on the job, he analyzed the situation: the middle-aged man hiding in the corner was clearly the ringleader, quietly controlling the scene. The roaming young couple scanned potential targets, the DSLR acting as binoculars for details. The yellow-haired guy remained a mystery.

After twenty minutes, the young couple settled down. The four continued their coordinated vigilance, occasionally glancing around.

Lu Cheng lowered his phone to avoid meeting their eyes. These weren’t ordinary thieves—they were organized, disciplined, and dangerous.

Why hadn’t they struck yet?

Suddenly, an idea struck him. He seemed to understand.

At the command center, Luo Yong’s gaze shifted to the bottom-right camera. He noticed Lu Cheng, head down, intently on his phone.

He frowned. Was this kid slacking off?

Chen Feng watched too. “Old Luo, that trainee’s either gaming or scrolling Douyin. Has he forgotten his job?”

“Maybe,” Luo Yong muttered. “He’s good at catching thieves, sure. But stakeouts test patience—and he’s young. Impulsive.”

Just as he considered pulling Lu Cheng off duty, the comm crackled with Lu Cheng’s voice.

“Reporting to command, I’ve made a discovery.”

Everyone froze. The trainee had made a discovery?

So soon? He had just said there was nothing.

Luo Yong reacted instantly. “Spit it out! What did you find?”

“The ‘Yellow Sparrow’ gang is already in the waiting hall. Four members,” Lu Cheng said calmly.

What?

“Four?”
“Where?”
“Appearance details!”

Luo Yong pressed urgently.

“Not yet, Captain Luo,” Lu Cheng replied.

Not yet? At a time like this, he was teasing them?

Luo Yong gritted his teeth. “What the hell are you doing? Report discoveries immediately! This is team work, not the time for a trainee to play hero!”

The “Yellow Sparrow” gang wasn’t ordinary. Even after two days of stakeouts, two hours ago, the captain himself had been spotted. This gang was no joke.

Yet here was Lu Cheng, doing whatever he pleased.

Luo Yong’s raised voice drew other officers’ attention. They gathered around, curious.

Hearing the commotion, Lü Zhengbo came downstairs and stood behind Luo Yong.

Luo Yong was about to explode. Lü Zhengbo calmly took the walkie-talkie.

“Lu Cheng, finish what you were saying.”
