“Chief! I’m Trainee Officer Lu Cheng, reporting for duty!”

“Apologies for being half an hour late—I was busy arresting a wanted criminal!”

Lu Cheng stood ramrod straight, his tall frame of one meter eighty-three making him stand out among the crowd in the courtyard.

The fugitive, Liu Juan, was escorted inside, but not before turning back to glare at Lu Cheng with venomous eyes.

She had been on the run for half a year, careful to the point of paranoia, even avoiding security cameras when walking down the street. She had even gone through minor cosmetic surgery so no acquaintance could recognize her in the short term.

Yet of all the people, it had to be a police officer who recognized her.

And not just any officer—a trainee!

She had capsized in the gutter!

“What are you staring at? Get in there!”

Officer Kobayashi gave Liu Juan a shove, pushing her inside.

This was a big catch for their small station—a splash worth boasting about.

“Good! Good! Well done, Lu Cheng!”

Chief Chen Weimin’s smile couldn’t be contained. Among the four new recruits, top student Yuan Jie had always ranked first, while Lu Cheng was considered last.

Now, Lu Cheng had taken the spotlight—he’d caught a wanted criminal. Sure, luck played a big part, but wasn’t luck also a form of strength?

Bringing in such a prize on his first day—this newcomer was clearly a blessing for Sanliqiao Police Station.

Captain Song Chengfeng patted Lu Cheng’s shoulder warmly. “Little Lu, did you get hurt in the process?”

Lu Cheng shook his head. “No, sir.”

“Good man!” Song nodded approvingly.

Yang Zheng studied him curiously. “Lu Cheng, how did you even recognize Liu Juan?”

Everyone present perked up at that question.

Lu Cheng quickly recounted the events.

Yang Zheng nodded with rare approval. Luck aside, remembering the faces of wanted criminals was impressive.

The police database had at least eighty to a hundred wanted criminals listed. Few trainees bothered to memorize their faces.

But Lu Cheng had.

Not only that—his observational skills were sharp. Liu Juan’s appearance had changed drastically after surgery and makeup. Recognizing her wasn’t easy.

Yuan Jie, Chen Zelong, and Guo Lei—the other three trainees—looked at Lu Cheng with envy. They, too, wanted such an opportunity. Catching a wanted fugitive was a rare experience indeed.

Minutes later, another police vehicle from the bureau pulled in.

From it stepped a woman whose long, slender legs instantly drew everyone’s eyes.

It was Su Qingwu, the famed beauty of the Third Criminal Investigation Unit.

Many here knew her—not just for her looks, but for her skill. She had solved countless major cases.

Her teacher was none other than Ji Bochuan, “the Nemesis of Criminals,” a legend in Jianghai’s police circles.

Yang Zheng blinked in surprise. “Xiao Su, didn’t you have the day off today? Weren’t you… on a blind date?”

Though he didn’t speak loudly, everyone caught the word blind date.

That flawless beauty… and she still had to go on blind dates? Wasn’t the police force full of young men?

Su Qingwu’s pretty face tightened slightly. She shot Yang Zheng a glance and offered a simple explanation. “Director Yang, I was at the café at the time.”

Ah, so her blind date had been at the café.

Yang Zheng nodded.

Lu Cheng glanced at her, stunned at the coincidence. So she’d been there too.

Lucky guy, whoever got to sit across from her on a blind date.

If his own match had been someone like Su Qingwu, maybe he wouldn’t hate blind dates so much.

Then—he froze.

Crap!

His own blind date was probably still waiting at the café.

He’d checked Liu Juan’s phone when he arrested her and realized she wasn’t his match. His mother wouldn’t have set him up with a wanted criminal.

So he’d made a mistake.

Lu Cheng quickly retreated to a corner and dialed the number.

Inside her purse, Su Qingwu’s phone vibrated. She didn’t take it out—she simply flicked her gaze toward Lu Cheng.

“Xiao Su, your phone’s ringing,” Yang Zheng reminded her.

She reached into her bag, hung up without checking, and said flatly, “Spam call.”

Yang Zheng frowned. Spam, without even looking?

At that moment, the bureau’s officers led Liu Juan out.

“Director Yang, we’ll take her back now.”

“Alright, stay safe on the road.”

Yang waved them off.

Chen Weimin, still in good spirits, invited Yang Zheng and Su Qingwu to stay for lunch. Catching a fugitive deserved a celebration—the cafeteria was serving extra dishes.

“I still need to visit other stations. I’ll pass. Xiao Su, if you’re free, stay and have a meal before leaving.”

The moment those words landed, every young male officer’s eyes lit up.

If the beautiful Su Officer was staying, who needed extra dishes?

She herself was a feast for the eyes.

Unable to refuse after repeated urging, Su Qingwu finally stayed.

Meanwhile, the four trainees received their uniforms and standard-issue gear—body cams, handcuffs, expandable batons, pepper spray, radios, tactical flashlights.

Though still trainees, they were outfitted no differently than full officers. The only distinction was the double chevrons on their epaulets.

Even so, the four rookies brimmed with pride, especially when strapping on their bright silver handcuffs and batons.

Veterans merely chuckled. Every rookie looked the same on their first day.

But the moment Lu Cheng slipped on his uniform, a sudden mechanical voice rang in his mind.

His expression stiffened. The system had arrived!

The system might be late, but it was never absent.

Without it, what kind of transmigration was this?

The system’s name was [Super Police God]. By solving cases, Lu Cheng would earn rewards.

Since he had just captured a wanted criminal, the system immediately granted his first reward—two foundational skills.

[Flycatcher Lv.1]: When suspects are nearby, a random fly will activate to tail them. Trigger range: 20 meters. Detection range: 200 meters.

[Combat Mastery Lv.1]: A hybrid martial skill set combining joint locks, grappling, sanda, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and free fighting. Allows devastating strikes against criminals. Strength increases with level.

The skills poured into his mind and body.

Lu Cheng’s heart pounded, his whole being trembling as if reborn.

This system was powerful. Now, he couldn’t wait to take on missions—earn more rewards!

Word quickly spread through the station—rookie Lu Cheng had caught a fugitive!

He became the talk of the place overnight.

Yuan Jie, once the golden boy, felt a twinge of bitterness.

That day’s cafeteria menu included braised pork trotters and fish. Everyone happily grabbed extra rice.

The lunch lady gave Lu Cheng an extra portion of meat.

Only one other person received the same treatment—Su Qingwu.

Lu Cheng got his for catching a fugitive. She got hers purely on looks.

During lunch, Su Qingwu sat at a table with Chen Weimin and Song Chengfeng. Six seats in all—but the two beside her were empty.

To the single young officers, those empty seats were more tempting than the pork trotters.

But none dared sit. First, they didn’t feel qualified. Second, Officer Su’s cool aura kept everyone at bay.

Lu Cheng carried his tray, intending to join his fellow trainees—but their table was already full.

The cafeteria was packed; there weren’t many seats left.

“Little Lu, over here.”

Chen Weimin beckoned. “No seats left? There’s room beside Officer Su.”

Noticing the empty seat, Lu Cheng walked over openly and sat down beside Su Qingwu.
