Hello readers, if you like my work consider buying me a coffee. It encourages a lot to translate.

She took off the bright red wedding gown, revealing her fair and smooth arms, then removed the hairpins and jewels from her hair. Her long tresses cascaded down, loosely draped over one side of her ears.

She stepped into the bathtub.

The sound of splashing water continued unabated, steam began to spread, and the scent of soap and essential oils filled the room. An ambiguous, intimate and humid atmosphere intertwined in the air, making him increasingly distracted and enchanted.

In an instant, it was as if he could see through the screen: the young wife’s skin, white as lard; her dark, damp eyes; and her slender, supple waist—

Just as Wen Wan stood up from the bathtub, the screen was suddenly pushed aside with force, and she found herself falling into a warm embrace.

The man’s eyes were bloodshot as he stared at her, as if he intended to devour her whole in the next moment. He nibbled on her small, round earlobe, his hot breath whispering in her ear, “Wife… you’re taking too long… Let me help you…”

Zhao Heng scooped her up and swiftly carried her toward the large pearwood bed. The bright red brocade quilt was embroidered with a pair of mandarin ducks. The vivid red embroidery, the blooming silk tree flowers, and the scattered longans and lotus seeds across the bed all proclaimed that tonight was his and Wen Wan’s wedding night.

And to make matters worse, the enchantress hooked her long, pale legs around him, pulling him forward, stripping him of his last shred of rationality. Under the flickering lamplight, the young wife smiled with a bewitching charm, “Brother A Heng, come here…”

Zhao Heng abruptly covered her body.

On the night of youth, beneath the red brilliance, caps and tassels removed, skirts and trousers entirely shed, hair ornaments all discarded.

Embracing red undergarments, lifting pale feet, caressing soft butt*cks. Nothing was not excessive in pleasure, graceful and swaying, embodying tender feelings, freely indulging in unrestrained delight.

The pair of red candles on the windowsill… burned until dawn.

At daybreak, a wisp of gentle morning clouds slanted through the window.

Falling upon the man’s handsome face.

The moment Wen Wan opened her eyes, she saw her “figurine” lying sideways on the bed, propping his head up with one hand, his jade-like body reclined, fragrant shoulder partially exposed, his beautiful, deep eyes filled entirely with her reflection.

“Good morning.”

The young wife’s voice was husky.

They had been at it three or four times last night, and Zhao Heng had put his all into it each time. How could her voice not be hoarse?

So.

Choosing a husband… one should still pick one with an eight-pack.

Wen Wan turned over, unable to resist. She wrapped her arms around his neck, gently offered a kiss, paused at the birthmark under his right eye, and pecked it. “Husband, you are truly handsome.”

Zhao Heng chuckled lowly, his hard chest vibrating. He seized her fair wrist and pressed it above her head. “Even with this birthmark on my face?”

“The birthmark doesn’t detract even one ten-thousandth from my husband’s appearance.” Wen Wan, soft and pliant, draped one arm over his chest while her other hand felt for the silver mask on the bedside table. She handed it to him with a smile. “So… how you look without the mask… can only be for my eyes alone.”

Hurry up and put it on, buddy.

Otherwise, if others see your real face, how am I supposed to ‘keep the child and lose the father’ later?

She couldn’t very well kill him, so the plan was to send him away in the future.

Therefore, the fewer people who saw Zhao Heng’s true face, the better.

But Zhao Heng didn’t take the mask. Instead, he covered her body completely, one hand pinning her wrists above her head, the other grasping her chin.

The man’s chest was fiery hot and rigid, like a branding iron taken red-hot from the flames, searing Wen Wan’s body until she felt feverish.

“Call me ‘Brother A Heng’,” he said.

Wen Wan lifted her chin and gently nibbled the stubble on his jawline. The young woman, radiant and delicate like a flower in full bloom waiting to be picked, called out to him coyly and obediently, “Brother Aheng… you should tend to your beard.”

If you just give me a child, I’d call you ‘daddy’ alive, not just ‘brother’.

Come to think of it, increasing the frequency should also raise the probability, right?

Just as she was about to engage in a fierce battle until dawn, Nanny Chen outside coughed heavily several times. “Son-in-law, it’s time to get up! The Master is waiting for you both to serve tea.”

Dammit!

Ruining her plans!

Wen Wan felt that the current Old Master Wen… was like the malicious mother-in-law in those later-day ‘niangdao’ stories.

Day in and day out, all he did was hassle her and her… handsome husband.

Hearing no response from inside the room, Nanny Chen started knocking on the door again. “Son-in-law, it’s almost noon! If you don’t get up now, you’ll break the rules.”

Oh dear! The young mistress really is something, not knowing to set any rules for the new son-in-law at all. Today’s the first day after the wedding; if she doesn’t show him who’s boss now, how will she ever keep him in line later?
This is worrying Nanny Chen to death!

Wen Wan glanced at the sky outside and couldn’t help but sweat profusely.

Noon? It’s at most 8 or 9 a.m.!

Nanny Chen, how are you any different from those tiger moms who wake their kids up at 6 a.m. for a 9 a.m. class? Why don’t you go wait for a train three hours early at the high-speed rail station?

“We’re up,” Wen Wan replied helplessly. Zhao Heng comforted her, “We must go serve tea to Father. Let’s not miss the proper time. Let’s go.”

The newlyweds changed their clothes and walked hand in hand to Old Master Wen’s room.

Old Master Wen was sitting cross-legged on the kang, having breakfast with Wen Jing. When he saw the two youngsters coming to pay their respects, his face immediately broke into a smile, the corners of his eyes crinkling.

However, seeing the dark circles under Old Master Wen’s eyes, Wen Wan knew the old man had another sleepless night.

Probably from anxiety.

Hopefully, he wasn’t sticking pins in a voodoo doll of Shi Jinquan all night.

Little Wen Jing jumped down from the kang, came over to take Wen Wan and Zhao Heng’s hands, and looked up sweetly at Zhao Heng, calling, “Brother-in-law!”

Zhao Heng and Wen Wan each gave Wen Jing a small red envelope.

Little Wen Jing was overjoyed: This time I can buy all the candy I want!

But before the red envelopes could even warm Wen Jing’s hands, Wen Wan took them back. “Big sister will keep these safe for you and give them to you when you’re older.”

Little Wen Jing: Do you think I believe that?

A servant brought tea. Wen Wan and Zhao Heng knelt together, obediently calling out “Father” in unison. Wen Weiming looked at this golden boy and jade girl pair, and thinking that his daughter’s marriage was settled, preventing their property from being seized, the breath he had been holding for half a year finally settled.

“Since you are now married, you are husband and wife from this day forward. You should join hands and advance together, supporting each other.” Old Master Wen first gave them both red envelopes, then issued a warning to Zhao Heng. “You have seen our family’s current difficulties. But since you have married into our family, you and we are one. You need not help Wen Wan with business matters, but you must put more effort into daily life and care.”

“Father’s instruction is correct.”

“I have found a copy of ‘The Record of Household Management’ for you. Take it back and study it carefully. Although it might not be entirely appropriate to say this the day after your wedding, our Wen family has few members, and the house has always been rather cold and quiet. We must attend to business matters, but expanding the family line is also a matter of utmost importance.”

Old Master Wen was worried.

It was precisely because he lacked male heirs that he suffered bullying from the clan.

He only hoped Wen Wan would have many children, preferably all boys, so they could stand firm against the clansmen.

Otherwise, when Wen Wan grew old without sons, the clansmen’s attempts to seize the family property would surely return.

“Alright, I have matters to discuss with Wen Wan. You take Wen Jing and leave first.”

Zhao Heng took the book and withdrew.

Old Master Wen began finding fault with his son-in-law again. “Look at this young man, his conduct is proper and courteous, neither servile nor overbearing. For him to be a live-in son-in-law… what a pity.” Thinking of Zhao Heng’s deep, dark eyes, he grew concerned for Wen Wan. “I really don’t know if you’ll be able to keep him in check.”
