Chapter 405: The First Lucky One

“It’s already been a full half month, and yet no one has come?” Wu Hao, inside the Heavenly Emperor Sect, felt as if he was about to mildew from inactivity. Logically speaking, he hadn’t placed the Heavenly Emperor Sect in a particularly remote location—just within a small world inside a Great World under the Xuanlei Domain, nestled in a deep mountain forest. The nearest human city was over five hundred kilometers away.

But Wu Hao seemed to have forgotten that five hundred kilometers was nothing more than a mere thought’s distance for him. However, for the inhabitants of the small world, unless they had reached at least the Nascent Soul stage, they wouldn’t come wandering into a remote mountain forest looking for Immortal opportunities out of nowhere.

“Forget it, I’ll just leave it to fate,” Wu Hao sighed helplessly and stopped dwelling on it. Since he hadn’t opened his divine sense, he still had no idea what had happened outside.

Meanwhile, not far from the Heavenly Emperor Sect, a young man was riding a horse quickly toward the sect, followed by several attendants trailing behind him.

“Young master, is there really an Immortal in this remote mountain forest?” one of the attendants cautiously asked from behind the young man.

The young man shook his head and replied with a serious expression.

“I believe in the existence of Immortals, but I’m not sure if I can actually find one. After all, everything depends on fate. If there is no fate involved, even if an Immortal stood right in front of me, I might not be able to recognize them.”

“But Your Highness gave you three years back then. If you don’t find any Immortal within three years, you have to return to inherit the throne,” the attendant said hesitantly.

“That’s enough, don’t bring this up again. There are still two and a half years left—time is enough. You don’t need to stay by my side. I’m enough on my own. Do you not trust my martial skills?” the young man said confidently.

The attendant sighed and was about to say something when suddenly he noticed something and his face turned pale. He shouted, “Crown Prince, watch out!” but was instantly killed by an arrow shot rapidly from a distance.

The young man’s expression also changed drastically as he shouted, “Everyone, take cover!”

In an instant, everyone at the scene quickly dismounted and sought shelter. However, the arrows came too fast, and heavy casualties soon followed.

The young man, obviously the leader, found cover and hid, observing the surrounding situation. His hand involuntarily tightened around the sword at his waist, his expression dark and grim. Looking at his fallen attendants, he felt an overwhelming anger. They were all his trusted men, all died protecting him because he sought to find Immortals and inquire about the Dao.

“Master, what should we do now?”

The few remaining servants stood beside him, their faces filled with anger as they asked.

The young man took a deep breath, a murderous look flashing in his eyes.

“Find them. Kill them. Avenge those who have died!”

With that, the five survivors began carefully scanning the surroundings to locate the enemy. The attack had come too suddenly; they hadn’t had time to react. All they knew was that the arrows were shot from the south, but the exact location was still unknown.

“Master, I’ll act as bait. You all find the enemy’s position,” one of the servants standing next to him spoke resolutely. Without waiting for the young man to respond, he dashed forward and was immediately pierced by three arrows shot from afar.

“Three arrows… that means at least three enemies. They came from the bushes about a hundred meters away,” the young man said with a grim expression.

Although the servant’s sacrifice was tragic, it was meaningful—they had identified the enemy’s location.

Quickly, the young man led the three surviving servants as they advanced toward the enemy’s position. Yet along the way, two more servants were struck by arrows and died instantly in a brutal manner.

Seeing this scene, the young lord’s eyes reddened with rage, and his anger grew even stronger. He charged up to the bushes, drew his long sword, and plunged in.

The moment he entered, three arrows came flying toward him. The young lord dodged to the side, then swung his sword in a strike that severed the head of one archer.

Just as he had expected, there were only three archers. But when he noticed the uniforms on their bodies, his expression darkened—he recognized them as the Divine Archers Battalion uniforms from their rival dynasty.

At that moment, the other two archers reacted quickly, drawing arrows and nocking their bows. Two arrows flew at him; the young lord managed to block one, but the other pierced his abdomen.

“Master, be careful!”

By then, the last remaining servant had arrived. Seeing what was happening, his eyes reddened with fury as he charged at the two archers. Before he could get close, the archers saw him coming and shot two arrows, killing him instantly.

But the young lord had already recovered his composure. Stifling the pain, he pulled the arrow from his wound and closed the distance quickly, throttling the two archers to silence them. Only then did this sudden crisis come to an end.

“Cough… cough… The Wanfeng Dynasty actually dared to attack me—are they trying to start a war?”

Zhang Tianhao’s face was grim. As the crown prince of the Tianling Dynasty, if he were killed by the Wanfeng Dynasty, it would surely lead to war between the two.

But there was no time for such thoughts now. With an arrow wound still fresh, if he didn’t tend to it, he would bleed out and die.

Throughout the journey, Zhang Tianhao hadn’t seen a single village. All his supplies were on his horse, but the horse had been startled and had run off, and now it was nowhere to be found.

“Am I really going to die out here in the wilderness?”

Feeling the obvious blood loss, Zhang Tianhao’s face had grown somewhat pale. Just as he looked up, he noticed a magnificent palace atop a nearby Great Mountain.

“What is that place? Hm, it doesn’t matter anymore. The worst outcome is just death, anyway.”

Clenching his teeth against the pain and dizziness from the bleeding, Zhang Tianhao finally arrived before the Heavenly Emperor Sect. Seeing the Apprenticeship Bell next to the sect, he barely managed to take out his sword and strike the bell once before he fainted.

At the same time, inside a courtyard far from the Heavenly Emperor Sect, Wu Hao, who had been dozing off, suddenly opened his eyes. In a flash, he disappeared from where he was and reappeared at the sect’s entrance.

“What the—? After all this time, a disciple finally arrives, and he looks like he’s nearly dead?”

At first glance, Wu Hao saw Zhang Tianhao collapsed beside the Apprenticeship Bell, blood still flowing from his wound. Wu Hao immediately understood what had happened.

With just one look, Wu Hao could clearly discern Zhang Tianhao’s true background.

The Apprenticeship Bell left in front of the Heavenly Emperor Sect was no ordinary object—it was specially crafted by Wu Hao himself. Unless someone was truly destined to be connected to it, the bell would not let out a sound no matter what happened.Since Zhang Tianhao was able to make the Apprenticeship Bell ring, it meant he was qualified to become his disciple.

With this in mind, Wu Hao let out a sigh, and then, with a single thought, the power of the Path of Healing began to work on Zhang Tianhao’s body.
