A Fox Spirit Between Her Thighs - Chapter 3
Before the age of eight, Li Yao was radiant like a colorful phoenix, full of vitality and brilliance. During the Festival of Buddha’s Longevity that year, she accompanied her father to a mountain temple to offer prayers. After worship, her father engaged in discussion with the high monk. She was then allowed to wander freely.
Though it was called wandering, as a noble princess, she was always followed by guards and maids wherever she went. It was never truly carefree. Taking advantage of the crowded time of year, she blended into the throng and slipped away from her attendants.
Temples were filled with statues of the Buddha and the scent of incense. She had seen plenty of grand temple halls in the palace and found little novelty in it. She followed a narrow path behind the temple and soon entered a dense forest.
The forest was wild and tangled. Unlike the refined gardens in the royal residence, this place was vast and untamed. It expanded the view and made one feel small, evoking awe at the wonders of nature.
She walked while observing her surroundings. Having been pampered in the royal residence for so long, stepping outside felt like entering an entirely new world. Everything intrigued her. Even the flowers and grass seemed different. A sparrow perching on a branch and chirping was enough to make her stop and watch.
Suddenly, the sparrow appeared startled and flapped its wings in a frantic flight.
Just as she wondered what had startled it, she caught a glimpse of something darting past her feet.
Turning her head, she saw an animal. It looked very much like the foxhound she had once seen in Consort De’s quarters. Her eyes were immediately drawn to its retreating figure. Foxhounds were tribute gifts from the far-off land of Wula and were not seen in ordinary households. The first time she saw one in the palace, she had taken an immediate liking to it. Whenever she entered the palace, she would insist on playing with it. She never expected to find such a creature in a wild forest.
This dog seemed to have human-like awareness. While running, it noticed someone was watching it and stopped, turning its head to meet her gaze.
As it turned back, Li Yao took a closer look and realized this one was even more beautiful than the one in the palace. Its figure was delicate and small. Its fur was pure snow-white. Even under the shade of the trees, its purple eyes shone bright and clear like gemstones. It was truly lovable.
She stepped forward and took out a small fruit she had picked earlier from her sleeve pouch. She crouched down.
The dog did not retreat as she approached. There was no fear or hostility in its purple eyes.
“Do you want to eat this?” Li Yao extended the fruit to it with a bright smile.
Seeing her speak, the dog slowly approached. It seemed uninterested in the fruit. Instead, it simply stared at her intently.
Though it had no expression, she still felt as if there was a hint of a smile in its eyes. Just as the thought crossed her mind, the scene before her turned into a blinding white blur.
After Su Ya had withdrawn, Li Yao drank her flower tea and lay down to rest. It did not take long before she fell asleep again. However, the nightmare once more returned.
This time, she became aware within the dream. At last, she found a trace of clarity amidst the dream. She struggled and resisted, trying to pull herself awake.
“No… no!”
The candle on the desk had already burned out. The room was cloaked in darkness.
Suddenly, a tall beam of light appeared out of nowhere in front of the bed. A bewitching and graceful woman slowly stepped out from the glow. Only when her full form emerged did the light gradually fade.
She approached slowly. Upon seeing the figure on the bed, she felt both joy and concern. She was joyful because they were reunited. She was concerned because the girl appeared to be trapped in a nightmare.
The woman lifted her wrist gently. Her delicate fingertips rested on the girl’s pulse. Detecting an anomaly, her red lips released a quiet sigh. Then she lowered her head and sealed the lips of the one who was still murmuring in her sleep.
Her purple eyes glinted. She focused her strength in her core and activated the demon core within her. She released spiritual energy and guided it into the girl’s mouth through her own tongue.
After a few breaths, the girl in her arms seemed to calm down. The frown on her face gradually softened.
She stopped moving. The woman felt a little disappointed.
The corners of her lips curled slightly. She extended her pink tongue to pry open the girl’s teeth. Her agile little tongue slipped into the warm mouth and gently stirred the sweet taste within.
Author’s Note:
If Ning Yan ever finds out that Li Yao mistook her for a dog, she would be utterly devastated, hahaha~
