Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Although it is unclear how much time has passed since entering the floating city, it is conservatively estimated to be no less than one day and one night. This is also the longest period since the heart demon left Yun Zhuoran for the first time.

It would be a lie for Yun Zhuoran to say he isn’t worried.

Therefore, when Gu Shenshu shows him the painting of the heart demon walking alone in the sea of fire on Xinglan Bridge, Yun Zhuoran feels a real sense of worry.

So, he chooses the heart demon.

Now that the heart demon appears fine in reality, Yun Zhuoran breathes a sigh of relief. He looks up and notices quite a few familiar faces in Shuanglu Pavilion. He pats the heart demon’s shoulder and motions for him to stand up straight.

Jiang Zhibai walks over first, his face filled with surprise and joy. “Junior Brother Yun!”

As he approaches Yun Zhuoran, Jiang Zhibai subconsciously stops. Yun Zhuoran has changed so much. He is wearing a flamboyant, bright red outfit, completely different from his previous appearance in Tiandao Sect. It reminds him of the rumors surrounding the young master of Penglai Island and the fear that Yun Zhuoran instilled in the two peak masters of the sect.

For various reasons, Jiang Zhibai feels somewhat unfamiliar with Yun Zhuoran in that moment.

Yun Zhuoran nods indifferently, but the look in his eyes is gentle. “Senior Brother Jiang, you’re here too.”

The strange feeling in Jiang Zhibai’s heart suddenly disappears, and he smiles and nods. Of course, the grudge between the sect and Junior Brother Yun has nothing to do with his personal relationship with him.

Yun Zhuoran glances around, frowning slightly when he sees Shen Lingshu, Ji Ruo, Gu Qiuming, and the others. He asks Jiang Zhibai, “Didn’t the Shuanglu Pavilion close? Why hasn’t anyone left?”

When everyone sees Yun Zhuoran appear in Shuanglu Pavilion in the west of the city, they are all shocked. Just moments ago, he had been at Xinglan Bridge in the north of the city!

Everyone freezes for a moment, then quickly checks the map of the floating city. There is no known road between Xinglan Bridge and Shuanglu Pavilion. It seems that Yun Zhuoran has appeared out of thin air!

Li Jianming runs over, eyes wide, suspecting that this Yun Zhuoran might be a fake.

Since Yun Zhuoran arrives, the heart demon ignores everyone. When he hears the question, he hugs Yun Zhuoran’s arm and pulls him into Shuanglu Pavilion, pointing at the two trembling monsters inside and complaining.

“Brother, it’s because these two monsters hid the teleportation array and refused to give it up!”

Yun Zhuoran is confused. “What?”

Jiang Zhibai follows, adding, “The little island master said there’s a teleportation array in Shuanglu Pavilion.”

The heart demon corrects him. “It wasn’t me who said that. It was the weasel at Ruyi Pavilion who said that.” He complains to Yun Zhuoran, “I wanted to find my brother using the teleportation array, but they wouldn’t let me. I’m so angry.”

Yun Zhuoran finally understands that the heart demon is answering his earlier question. The reason the heart demon hasn’t left is that he hasn’t received the desired reward—the teleportation array.

After grasping the situation, Yun Zhuoran doesn’t try to appease the heart demon with words like, “If the teleportation array is gone, it’s fine; he’s already here.” If there truly is a teleportation array in the Shuanglu Pavilion, how could Yun Zhuoran complain about having too many teleportation arrays?

At Xinglan Bridge, the teleportation talisman Gu Shenshu gave Yun Zhuoran can only be used once, while a teleportation array can typically be activated multiple times. Yun Zhuoran has used a teleportation talisman to find his heart demon, but he won’t miss the chance to teleport him directly to the City Lord’s Mansion to see Gu Shenshu.

“The fox demon already said there’s no teleportation array, and we all went to Ruyi Pavilion, but why is it only you who heard the weasel say there’s one in Shuanglu Pavilion? We didn’t hear anything,” a sour voice suddenly comes from behind Shen Lingshu—it is Gu Jinping.

Shen Lingshu snaps back to reality and moves his gaze away from Yun Zhuoran. He steps back with a frown. Even though he has grievances with Yun Zhuoran and the little island master, he doesn’t want to stay near someone like Gu Jinping.

Gu Jinping, isolated and nervous, stubbornly refuses to change her words.

Unexpectedly, Yun Zhuoran doesn’t even look at her. He simply nods indulgently at the heart demon.

“Okay, I understand.”

The heart demon obediently responds, “Mhm!”

Yun Zhuoran, as the young master of Penglai Island, has already proven his power when the last batch of floating orders appears, his aura shocking everyone. He is clearly no less powerful than Qingyang, the acting master of Tiandao Sect in the integration stage. Therefore, Young Master Yin is wary of him, Ji Ruo fears him, Shen Lingshu resents him, and Gu Jinping dares not approach him. They all keep their distance. Only Jiang Zhibai, Li Jianming, and Gu Qiuming are relatively enthusiastic toward Yun Zhuoran.

So, in Shuanglu Pavilion, everyone stands in different spots, clearly separated.

Yun Zhuoran looks at the tiger and fox lying on the ground and says flatly, “Teleportation array.”

The little fox doesn’t know who the new young man in red is, nor can it guess why the owner of Penglai Island, who has been in the north of the city, would suddenly appear here. But the moment it sees Yun Zhuoran, it realizes this person isn’t weak. After observing the others, it is even more in awe of him. What’s more, both it and the tiger demon have been forced to transform into their original forms and no longer have the strength to escape.

So, the little fox, knowing its situation, puts its paws in its pockets and says tearfully, “My lord, please be wise. We really don’t have a teleportation array! That yellow-skinned guy lied to you. We don’t have one!”

The heart demon immediately frowns and says sullenly, “I won’t be fooled easily.”

Actually, Gu Jinping’s words do have some merit. Everyone who has gone to Ruyi Pavilion has fought the yellow weasel demon, but none of them have heard the weasel mention the teleportation array. Even Li Jianming and Jiang Zhibai can’t help but wonder if the yellow weasel has deliberately lied to the young lord to save its life.

However, Yun Zhuoran silently takes out a three-foot jade branch, and a cold sword intent sweeps through Shuanglu Pavilion in an instant. Everyone can’t help but tremble. Could such a majestic sword intent really come from this simple jade branch?

This jade sword is extraordinary!

The fox demon is so frightened that it starts to cry. “My lord, please believe me! I really don’t have a teleportation array!”

The fox demon’s original form is only the size of an adult’s palm, a small ball of fur with light brown fur that fades to almost beige at the tail. It looks incredibly cute, and it is crying pitifully at this moment.

However, the man in red standing in front of it still has cold eyes.

“You can’t even fool a child, and you still think you can fool me?” Yun Zhuoran raises the jade branch in his hand, holding it just above the little fox’s head. “How many of the fox’s words are true?”

At this, Li Jianming and the others realize. Yes, this is a cunning fox.

The little fox shudders violently, and the tiger demon’s slender tail tightens around it. The two demons are clearly afraid, yet the little fox still refuses to admit defeat. It sobs, “My lord, you’re discriminating… We foxes are smart, but not all of us lie every day. I really don’t have a teleportation array here… hic!”

Under Yun Zhuoran’s cold, piercing gaze, the little fox hiccups in fear.

Yun Zhuoran remains silent and pushes the jade branch forward slightly, its sharp sword energy flickering.

Everyone remains skeptical, feeling that Yun Zhuoran trusts the little island master too much.

After a short stalemate, the little fox breaks down and cries, “The teleportation array is not in my hands!”

The heart demon, understanding the implication, smirks and glances at Li Jianming, Jiang Zhibai, and the others. His eyes seem to say—See? You didn’t believe me earlier!

Yun Zhuoran doesn’t lower the jade branch but presses on, asking, “Where is the teleportation array?”

The little fox sobs again, “The teleportation array is beneath Shuanglu Pavilion…”

Seeing the little fox cry and tremble, the tiger demon speaks in a hoarse, weak voice, “The teleportation array is below Shuanglu Pavilion. We can’t activate it, and it can only lead to a specific location near the City Lord’s Mansion.”

This confirms the existence of the teleportation array. Li Jianming has no choice but to admit it, smiling apologetically at the heart demon, “I didn’t believe it earlier. I didn’t expect there really to be a teleportation array here.”

The heart demon ignores him and kicks the tiger demon, “What’s down there under Shuanglu Pavilion?”

The tiger demon grumbles, “Wait for me to catch my breath, and I’ll unlock the restrictions to let you in.”

At this point, it seems that the little island master has drained the energy of both demons, leaving them exhausted.

The heart demon nervously glances at Yun Zhuoran, suddenly recalling the warning he received after devouring the weasel family—each floating token has one!

Yun Zhuoran asks, “Are you still hungry?”

The heart demon quickly shakes his head. “I’m full!”

Yun Zhuoran raises an eyebrow and hands a storage bag to the heart demon. “Tell me when you’re hungry.”

The heart demon feels a faint demonic aura from the bag before even opening it. His mind races, and he suddenly has an incredible thought—This is a bag of demon cores!

His brother doesn’t blame him for eating on impulse but gives him a whole pile of food!

The heart demon beams with joy, his every strand of hair seemingly radiating happiness.

Everyone watches, bewildered. Aren’t we talking about the teleportation array? Why the sudden question about hunger?

Indeed, everyone is concerned about the teleportation array and keeps their eyes on the two demons.

Ji Ruo, feeling increasingly impatient, speaks up, his voice quieter due to Yun Zhuoran’s presence. He shoots a dissatisfied look at the tiger demon. “It’s just unlocking a restriction. How much strength do you need? Hurry up!”

The tiger demon is furious. This little devil in black isn’t even the little island master, yet he dares to boss him around? But when he thinks about his cultivation being reduced to the Golden Core level, he grits his teeth and endures it.

Just then, another person arrives at the door.

“Young Island Master, why are you still in here?” Cheng Ruyi, who has been following, enters and looks around at everyone, scratching his head in confusion. “Hasn’t this place been cleared? Why isn’t anyone leaving?”

Like no one has guessed that Yun Zhuoran would suddenly appear, no one could have expected him to bring someone with him.

When the heart demon hears Cheng Ruyi call Yun Zhuoran “Young Island Master” in a friendly tone, he immediately clings to Yun Zhuoran’s arm with an unhappy expression, wrinkling his fair, pretty face as he looks suspiciously at him. “Brother, who is this?”

It hasn’t been long since he and his brother have separated, and now his brother already has a new follower?

The heart demon turns and glares at Cheng Ruyi, sensing the devilish aura on him!

However, before Yun Zhuoran can speak, the vermilion door of Shuanglu Pavilion slams shut behind Cheng Ruyi. At the same time, the floating orders on everyone’s bodies light up with a blood-red glow.

It is detected that a new person has joined, and the required number of people to pass the Shuanglu Pavilion dungeon has been met!

Since entering the floating city, everyone had completed at least two missions and seen the various rules of the city. They thought they wouldn’t be surprised anymore, but this sudden turn of events left them stunned.

What was even more shocking was the line of blood-red text that appeared next to the floating order:

It is detected that a newcomer’s strength exceeds that of the master of Shuanglu Pavilion, triggering a difficult task!

Everyone: “…!?”

A difficult task? This term seems familiar… Everyone suddenly recalls seeing it in the announcement when Yun Zhuoran passed Xinglan Bridge!

While they are all stunned, Shuanglu Pavilion shifts. The simple furnishings around them are swallowed by thick black fog, and the floor begins to shake violently. In a flash, Yun Zhuoran scoops up the little fox trapped by the tiger demon’s tail with his jade branch and grabs it by the scruff of the neck. Simultaneously, his other arm wraps around the heart demon, holding him tightly.

After a brief chaotic moment, the ground steadies. The dim candlelight of Shuanglu Pavilion is replaced by blinding firelight. The ten people who have been in the room now stand on a floating platform. Above them is a dark sky, and beneath their feet, boiling magma bubbles and hisses. The intense heat in the air makes even the wind scorchingly hot.

The sea of fire before them is so similar to the one in the painting Gu Shenshu has shown Yun Zhuoran. Is this simply a coincidence? Or is it intentional?

When everyone sees the boiling crimson magma below, their expressions change drastically.

The heart demon pokes his head out from Yun Zhuoran’s arms and looks around, confused.

The tiger demon is still lying not far from their feet. Yun Zhuoran, having shaken the little fox dizzy, calmly tosses it back. He doesn’t seem nervous—in fact, he appears quite interested.

“Tell me, what happened?”

The little fox, still dazed from the hit, rolls into the soft fur of the tiger demon and is caught once more by its tail. The two animals look at each other, both frightened, with traces of fear in their eyes.

When they fall silent, the heart demon grows unhappy. “Brother is asking you.”

Yun Zhuoran chuckles. “No hurry.”

The heart demon shakes his head, turns back, and tightly grips Yun Zhuoran’s hand. With a solemn expression, he says, “Brother, don’t be afraid! After such a long separation and everything I’ve been through, I’ve grown up now. You don’t have to be scared with me here!”

Yun Zhuoran is taken aback. “…Okay.”

From the Peony Garden to the Ruyi Pavilion, from the Floating Sky City Lord’s warning to the Shuanglu Pavilion demanding the two masters hand over the teleportation array… Yun Zhuoran can’t help but smile quietly, trying not to laugh—Wei Ran is indeed very powerful.

At this point, the others have regained their composure, once again focusing intently on the two demons.

The tiger demon’s eyes widen, and he seems momentarily distracted. “It’s not us…”

The little fox’s yellow fur bristles with anxiety. “It’s the City Lord! This is the final trial set by the City Lord for Shuanglu Pavilion. But the difficulty is too great, we can’t control it, and we can’t activate it!”

The City Lord of Floating Sky City, Gu Shenshu?

Yun Zhuoran seems to be deep in thought. “So, your city lord is here now?”
